i agree completely that 223 is very good, i can only hope mine is as high, but cc does have a knack for humbling even elite students

i just received my scores: 227

Math: 80
Critical Reading: 71
Writing:76

yay!

Got mine on Friday…
Let’s just say I got commended, although im still a sophomore( Math-76 Writing -… CR-…) Good thing the cutoff in Michigan is low.
Damn those curves, I would have had a 212 on the bulletin.

Karenindallas ~ Of course in the big picture you are right. But S was disappointed because he got 226 last year without effort, got 223 this year after preparing carefully, and did not hit the minimum suggested marks for a summer program he wants to attend that uses the PSAT as a guide. But you are right, 223 is a good score, especially if nothing changes and he gets SF!

got my scores in the mail yesterday: 80 critreading; 68 math; 75 writing-- big relief since i was so sick when i took the damn things, all i wanted to do was maintain my sophomore year scores.

reasonabledad…what is the minimum score that the summer programs look for that use a PSAT as a guide?

Woocollege ~ it depends on the program…each one is different. Some use the SAT I instead, so if you have taken the SAT I it might be useful for you. Is there a program you’re trying to get into?

LOL wow I feel like the BIGGEST idiot ever… I wrote that I got a 262 on the test… OBVIOUSLY that’s wrong since it only goes up to 240
Actually what I accidentally did was add up the percentages instead of the scores… I was better than 97/98 percent of students on the reading and writing sections (i got 74 or 75 on them I think)… and i don’t remember the math one… ANYWHO… I actually didn’t make the cut:( SO, if you all thought I was an idiot…well I am, but atleast I can laugh at myself right?

So I humbly change my post. But I’m too embarrassed to announce my REAL score. I… didn’t make the cut. Enough said. Sad, sad, sad…

man, what’s going on, my school still hasn’t given scores back.

Don’t worry- I still didn’t get mine either. Maybe tomorrow…

i haven’t even received any mail yet. do you get college mail first or your score first?

I live in MA and I took the PSATs on Saturday.

I scored:

67 Critical Reading
80 Math
80 Writing Skills

Selection Index: 227
99% of juniors…

when/where do you find out what the cut off for selection index for MA is?
I know last year it was 222, but people are saying that it will be as high as 230 in MA…?

what do you think is my chance of getting commended?

Finally got my scores back. I has the Wednesday test and I live in Kansas

73 CR
76 Math
73 Writing

Selction Index: 222

Last year’s cutoff for Kansas was 214 so I’m pretty optimisitic about my chances. By the way, I never received any mail from colleges, so if you are still waiting for your scores and haven’t gotten any mail, there’s still hope for a high score.

Vintor, no one knows what the cut-off will be for this year’s juniors, and you won’t know until September of senior year. But a 227 is very high and I would be surprised if you didn’t make it.

i see a lot of kids who do well on math are also doing well on writing skills. is there a correlation between the two or am i just nuts. i would think that if ur good at verbal then u’d be good at writing skills.

Got my score back this afternoon…
203 selection index, a little better than i thought (top score in my class though)
67 cr, 66 m, 70 w
97th percentile.
I’ll take it lol

BTW im from PA so im lookin at commended but nothing further i guess

We haven’t gotten ours back…and I’ve only received mail from pretty lousy state schools…so I’m getting worried.

I am a freshman at a junior high school (grades7-9). My school has the scores, but we have to go to a workshop before we receive them. I just found out that I got a 66 in verbal because it was anounced as the highest score in that section at our school. All I know is that I got below an 80 in writing and below a 76 in math.

the college mail probably doesn’t mean anything…i got flooded last week from schools like houghton (yea where?) and hofstra, and i broke the 200 mark, probably not much to worry about.

Two hundred thirty two. YES. I rocked the socks off of that test.
Reading: 80
Math: 76
Writing: 76
…do you think I’ll make semi-Finalist, or maybe even Finalist? I’m from Warshington (the state) if that makes any difference?

This’s also my first post here. So hi. Just call me Chii, or Chiiguin.
I’ve been lurking for a couple weeks; the community here seems awesome and I’ve actually learned stuff from reading through the posts (learning stuff from an Internet forum? What a concept!).
