omg the writing brought down my score so much! 209 total (73,76,60). that really sucks. It’s times like these that make me wish that I lived in Arizona or Wyoming.

meh, i did ok, 77 verbal (2 wrong) 80 math 76 writing (3 wrong) = 233. One more than last year as a sophomore. Altogether unimpressive when considering that there were 4 240s in my school this year.

If curves are hideous enough- since the curves are pre-determined, the cut-offs may go down- but I am not sure of this.

I’m a sophomore this year, and I scored very close to a perfect 240. I’m a little frustrated knowing that if I were a junior I would qualify for National Merit Finalist. Is there anyting I can do about that? I’m pretty mad that I’m going to have to take the test all over again next year. I felt that my CR score was so strong this year because I knew most of the vocab–I hope I’m as lucky next time around. Any ideas what the chances are that I’ll have a good score again next year?

ha dwerbowy, im with you on that one!

We probably don’t get them until Friday. Every time I go to the office to bug the waste of carbon that is my consuler, he isn’t there.

Administration Day: Don’t remember. Honestly, all I care about is the scores; I don’t need to retrace every question and find out what I did wrong.

Selection Index: 203 (97 percentile)

Section Breakdown:

Critical Reading - 71
Math - 58 (Yes, I do realize that I suck at math.)
Writing Skills - 74

State: WA

Does anyone happen to know the cutoff rates for Washington (semifinalist and commendation)?

lol i got 204
73 math (GAHH I COULDVE GOTTEN A PERFECT IF I KNEW HOW 2 ADD¡¡¡¡)
67 writing
64 critical reading

last year the cutoff was 202. it is supposed to always stay at like, 97% for our state, which ranges from 203 to 205?
my counselor and friends were pretty sure if id make it, hopefully i will…

Los Angeles, California

CR - 66 (Ouch… I made at least one stupid mistake – vocabulary is my biggest weakness, however. I missed 5 questions and omitted 2 on this section; both omitted were on vocab, plus two of the ones I got wrong.)
M - 76 (I overlooked something on one question – kind of annoyed that it costs me 4 points.)
WS - 70 (I’m going to have to work on Identifying Sentence Errors, which I knew was another weakness of mine, having really done nothing to be able to identify such errors. Oh well.)

So, that’s s 212 Selection Index. I’m a bit disappointed because I expected to get at least over 220. At least I will (or should be) commended, though… and I’m pretty confident I can prepare enough to bring all my scores up for the March 12 SAT.

Arg have to wait until Monday! I got a 217 last year as a freshman without studying at all. I didn’t study this year either, but I think I avoided most of the stupid mistakes that I made last year. (Though I know i missed at least two writing…but that’s still an 80 on the Wed. test, right?)

2 wrong is not an 80 because you have to factor in the guessing penalty. it would be like 1 step down from 80

But wouldn’t that round up? Because 2 wrong would be .5 off, and .5 rounds up, right?

You’re right GrovyBander. I got two wrong on Writing and still got an 80. Good luck on your scores.

“meh, i did ok, 77 verbal (2 wrong) 80 math 76 writing (3 wrong) = 233. One more than last year as a sophomore. Altogether unimpressive when considering that there were 4 240s in my school this year.”

Wow… that’s unbelievable.
What kind of school do you go to (private, public, etc.)?

S got 223 on the test, 3 less than last year. Probably enough for SF in PA, but not much to brag about. The results came today in the mail. One thing I noticed: his M + V score is 153. One month after the PSAT S took the (old) SAT I and got a 1540, so maybe the PSAT is a good predictor after all.

Reasonabledad, I think you have the wrong screen name if you don’t think a 223 is something to brag about… You are losing some perspective.

Got ours on Thursday.

CR: 75 (1 omit, 2 wrong)
Math: 76 (0 omit, 1 wrong)
Writing: 74 (0 omit, 4 wrong)

for a 225.

What’s weird is on Writing it says “You answered correctly 35 or 39 writing skills questions and earned 35 points.”
then also,
“You answered incorrectly 4 question(s) and lost 1 point(s).”

I have mixed feelings. As far as I know, I did the best in my school. But still, I was so close to an 80 on Math and Writing.

well on cc, 223 isn’t much karenindallas, just take a look at the people here 0_0. sophomores getting 240s freshman getting 5s on aps…

I get my PSAT score prolly on wednesday.

Due to my falling asleep in the middle of the writing section my scores should be as follows:

Math: (made some assholish mistakes) 63
Writing: 60 haha
CRs: 65

composite: 188 its actually good for a soph but to redeem my name I am prepping over the winter break and taking the SAT.

Yea, but CC isn’t representative of the student population- not even of the higher academic student population. A score of 223, which will be Semifinalist, is excellent.
