Official PSAT Score Thread

that sux; my counselor will not release the score until we finish our finals (next week)…lol

how sad, i still need to suffer for one week plus have to prepare for finals

I got a 600 (critical reading), 730 math, and 670(writing skills) = 2000. 96 th percentile. Hopefully, I will be commended.

I got my PSAT scores today: 64 CR, 80 Math, 80 Writing --99 Percentile, 224 Selection index… do u guys think it’s high enough for semifinalist standing in Massachusetts this year? i hope so…

hey zxchen06, where are you from in massachusetts?

Boston… I go to Boston Latin School.

My school opened 364 years after the establishment of the Boston Latin School.

1999…that’s very old…half a decade ago…wow!

Woot! Only one more week until I get my scores! Sigh…

Did any one have their scores go down from their sophomore year? I got a 218 last year (216 was NMSF qualifying), but I’m nervous I won’t qualify for NMSF this year, which would be horribly embarrassing and frustrating. I know I got a 73 in math :frowning: which is worse than my 77 last year, and I don’t know how I did in the other two sections. So, juniors who have already received your scores, have any of them been worse than your sophomore year?

Got 70 math 73 writing 71 CR. 214=commended? tied for 2nd in a class of like 45 in a jewish school. Gah, math curve is horrible as usual, and everyones mistakes on it are careless.

I haven’t gotten my scores yet, but yeah, I’m also afraid mine are going to be lower than my scores in sophomore year. -_-. Ah well, I’m just going to have to wait and see…

Anyway, (belatedly) good luck to all the people who have yet to see their scores!

i did better than i did last year. sophomore: 210, junior: 224. Keep your hopes up! The writing curve is sweet! Try not to worry about making careless mistakes in math. CR was hard for me because I was guessing half the time but ur all smart.

I got a 73 in math, a 79 in critical reading, and an 80 in writing. I know a 232 will advance me to semifinalist standing. My question pertains to the requirements for becoming a finalist. I am homeschooled and will have a high school GPA around 3.85. I am taking Algebra 2 this year. Though I haven’t always focused on my studies, I am currently taking English and History for dual credit at the local college and have straight As this semeter. Am I likely to advance to Finalist standing? Also, do they allow you to send extra documents, like reading lists, to give them more insight into your calibre as a student? I think if I could submit a reading list that would really help (Great Expectations, Paradise Lost, Anti-Intellectualism in American Life etc.).

Aw, you cute lil juniors. I’m a nat’l merit semi-finalist, but my sophomore year I bombed the PSAT. So don’t despair! Okay, well I didn’t bomb, but I didn’t qualify for Nat’l Merit. Junior year I qualified pretty easily, so things change. It’s pretty much a crap shoot just like everything else to do with the whole college admissions process.

Okay, wow, now I am feeling really old and wise being able to give you guys this empty advice. Haha thanks for humoring me. I really have no idea what I’m talking about.

Taoigh ~ In general to advance to Finalist the CB is looking for a very solid SAT I score (people on CC have said higher than 1350, but I can’t verify this myself), plus a “good” GPA, plus no record of trouble with the law, plus a high-school transcript (which your parents can prepare). Based on your post, I would expect that you will have no trouble with any of these requirements. The reading list is great, but I doubt you will need it on this one…still, I suppose it can’t hurt.

for some strange reason I got an 80math 80verbal 80writing

that’s nuts

i didn’t do too well.

Criticial Reading: 71, Math 67, Writing 61 (down from a 70 last year, lol)

Announcement at my school today “all juniors who wish to see their psat scores may stop by after school to pick up their tests…on monday”

GAH! That curve is horrible. I am now even more mad at myself for misreading a problem that stated ‘x-axis’ and thinking it was ‘y-axis.’ That, and the equilateral triangle problem in which I found the side and proceeded to fill in the bubbles rather than then figure out the perimeter. I missed a question on the math last year completely and got a 77; I knew how to do all the math this year and got a 73. Go figure. bangs head against wall

Critical Reading I did fairly well on, 45 out of 48, although two of the ones I got wrong were most foolish mistakes. I looked at it and thought, “What was I thinking!?” How does ‘contemporary’ come even close to being the antynom of significant? The curve was harsh though and I got a 73 for that.

The writing I could’ve done better on, missed four but should’ve missed less than that :frowning: I got a 74 there. So I got a 220 in all, could’ve easily been a 227 if I had used those six extra minutes after each math section to check my work more thoroughly. The curve is hideous. Three down from last year. I doubt I’ll make national merit semifinalist status…if the curves are hideous though, does that mean the cutoffs get lower?
