@PAMom21 thats what i thought. so i got a 230.

Thank you @PAMom21 :-)

We thought that .50 = -1

If that calculation is right, my son should be at 221, which is kind of safe here in FL :-)

If FL goes over 221, you will have a LOT of company at that pity party!!! He looks solid to me.

Last year, the cutoff was 211! It would have to jump over 10 points ! !

Has that ever happened in any state?

No

I hope this year does not become a first :-(

No, it won’t. If any year offers drastic changes, it will be NEXT year when the new test rolls out. Some smaller states do have larger swings, but a solid state like FL will not go up 10+ points. I’ll bet my kid’s 2015 NMS full ride on that.

Thank you, @texaspg

@PAMom21 have you heard from any reports of this years test was harder than last years? Thanks!

I’m kind of out of the loop, as mine is a senior. I’m just still a bit addicted to this data rush. I know that last year many were saying they thought the 2013 test was harder than the 2012 test, but haven’t heard much about this year’s test, that I didn’t read here.

Ok thanks! Could anyone else say whether they thought this test was easier/harder than last years?

I thought writing and reading were harder while math was easier.

I’m totally confused now. Let’s say someone missed 2 on Critical Reading. That would be 46 right. Then you subtract 0.5 points for the 2 missed questions, so the score is now 45.5 - which way do you round? To 46?

If that’s the case, I never realized what a tiny penalty guessing is. You can actually guess and get 2 wrong and not have it count as a deduction.

any chance NJ could ever go below 218 for semifinalist?

Hopefully New York doesn’t go above a 220…

Could anyone please give their opinion on this years test vs last years? Thanks!

Any idea about what the commended cutoff will be? I got a 204, so should I be pretty safe for commended?

@Mango920452 last years math was harder for sure, reading and writing I dont remember too much

According to the method of piam I got
CR: -5 (70)
M: -0 (80)
W: -1 (78)
Total: 228

I was hoping to break 230, but oh well still really happy with 228, especially on CR.
