I have a question here!!
On a table for Regular Decision, some schools states if we can or cannot use QB app.
But do/can we forward our QB apps to those colleges that require commonapp? just for supplement? Or are we supposed to forward it to them anyways?

I am asking this question b/c when I tried to forward my application, it had check mark boxes for ALL colleges, which i thought didn’t make sense.

Adding to newaccountt’s question, do we have to physically send in a transcript to those schools that do accepted QB app? If so, where do we find the address? Or will it be the general admissions address?

@feelthedrowning. #2128 Congratulations on getting matched to Yale! However, your comment on your ethnicity, “chinese, of course,” sounds a bit arrogant. It seems like you think other ethnicities are not as good as Chinese. Other people, and the Yale diversity culture, would probably not appreciate that.

@peppermintpatty: I was actually making a self-deprecating comment regarding my own ethnicity because of how, objectively speaking, my extracurriculars make me appear to be an incredibly stereotypical Chinese-American applicant (violin, heavy orchestral involvement) and how Chinese-Americans seem to be a large majority of Asian-American college applicants due to the large Chinese population, a well-known fact. I do not think my “stats” are superior in any way to those of any other applicants, and the fact that I’m Chinese certainly does not make me superior. I am sorry that what was supposed to be a playful, innocuous comment was misconstrued.

I got matched to USC also! Its not that I’m not grateful and know what I signed up for, but I still feel a little hesitant about USC. I think its just that I wanted choices but everything is decided for me already and I don’t even know what else I would’ve gotten into. STILL USC is awesome and I know a girl at my school whose dream school is USC and she wasn’t matched to any schools. So my hesitancy has turned more into excitement. There’s so many opportunities at USC.

Honestly, why would you rank the school if you weren’t sure about it? That said, I’m glad you’re slowly seeing the light because USC and CA are incredible places. Definitely try to visit before you make any preconceived notions. Although unlikely, the admissions office may be able to fly you out.

@ Mentos: Thank you once again for your response. I emailed an admissions officer and she was kind of ambiguous saying that Princeton does not view financial information for admissions purposes, but also saying that their goal through QuestBridge is to match low income students, so I’m guessing they do consider income level for the College Match.

@hahmed: I’m a little confused by your response. Since you say that they won’t say how many finalists ranked Princeton, do you mean that there were only 310 QuestBridge finalists in the whole nation? That seems wrong to me because on the QuestBridge website it said that there were around 2500 QuestBridge finalists in 2009…

@feelthedrowning: Oh ok, but even if the large majority of the Asian population is Chinese, it doesn’t mean that Asian means Chinese (in terms of college applicants). Of course, you’re the only one who knows if your comment was playful or not. But still, good luck in your college decisions.

@newaccountt: I believe they’re due on January 31st along with the Mid-year Report, but it all depends on which school you’re applying to. If you’re a Questbridge finalist, then here are the requirements for RD with Questbridge Partner Schools:
[QuestBridge National College Match - Regular Decision Table for Finalists](QuestBridge)

however, I would recommend visiting each admissions site and see the actual calendar deadline for financial aid papers.

@anika011: Thanks! I will see each college’s deadline, but for ex, for Brown, I am planning to use my QB app b/c they say that it is allowed. Then would Financial aid materials for Brown be also due on Dec. 15 or Jan 31st?

Wait in reference to newaccountt, are ALL materials due Dec. 15? or are we still abiding by the Jan. 1st (Give or take a few days) deadline of most school through Regular Decision?

@peppermintpatty: Although I had stated and joked about the fact that a large number of Asian college applicants are Chinese, I never implied or stated that “Asian means Chinese (in terms of college applicants).” You seem to be jumping to the conclusion that I look down on other ethnicities and responding from the basis that I find Chinese people to be superior rather than attempting to comprehend my explanation, which is that the “of course” of my joke is in reference to the large number of Chinese people rather than trying to disassociate myself from other ethnicities or implying that being Asian naturally MEANS being Chinese. My joke was in good humor, but I accept that the internet is not the most conducive to humor and further explaining it is often futile.

Brown, for example, does allow the QB app to replace Common App and its supplement. However, I believe that the financial documents, like the CSS Profile, is due on Feb 1st.
Here is their calendar:[Brown Admission: Applying to Brown](<a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Brown University”>Undergraduate Admission | Brown University)

The Questbridge Finalist Requirements for RD aren’t specific in when the actual deadline for each material is, so I assume that it has the same deadline as other RD applicants. I’ll call Brown tomorrow to double check if financial docs are due in Feb., but as far as I know now, only Common App/Supplements/School Forms/Teacher and Counselor Recs/Official Transcript/Official test scores are due Jan. 1st. Hope that helps!

I understand your joke, and it is stereotypical that Chinese take up atleast 75% of all Asian American applicants, however that doesn’t mean that they’re taking over the world LOL. Other subcontinental races such as Japanese, Korean, Filipinos, and more should not be discounted.

@anika011: I am glad that you understand my joke, and I certainly agree that other races should not be discounted (and never tried to imply that they should be discounted or that Chinese people are taking over the world in my joke).

Hey guys…I’m a bit confused by Brown and their requirements for the RD finalists. On the QB website, they say that QB can be used instead of the Common App. However, on the Brown site for QB kids, they say they want the Common App. [Brown Admission: Supplements](<a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Brown University”>Undergraduate Admission | Brown University)

I emailed Brown and QB, but have not received a reply yet. Anyone know which to send for sure? QB or Common App?
