*Official Regular Decision For Northwestern University Class of 2016*

My daughter heard on a Thursday evening (March 25th) two years ago, for what it’s worth. At around 11 p.m., she yelled out, “Hey, I got into Northwestern”. She was relieved more than excited because she had only heard from one other school at that point, and she had been waitlisted there. Northwestern was the only school that she applied to that she hadn’t visited, so we went to the accepted students day, and she fell in love, which is why she is now so far, far away.

@EnoughAlready - D also fell in love with NU during her first visit, and the love has just grown deeper the more time she’s spent there! Heck, we’re falling in love from a distance although we have our own college affections. NU is a very special place!!

same here…S fell in love with NU the moment he stepped into the campus on the “accepted students” day; however much his mother tried to convince him to join a school nearby, he stood firm and is very happy out there and we are happy he is happy, though a plane ride away!

All these happy current NU student stories…making the wait worse! Hahaha. No but honestly, great to hear your kids are loving NU. It’s been my obsession since I was in 10th grade. If it wasn’t for another school that I love just as much, I would have done ED in a heartbeat. Cannot wait for decisions day. AHHHHHHH!

Every time I go back and visit (and even when I was a student, coming back from breaks), I notice a different vibe right away when I get to campus. The campus is always alive and abuzz with energy. I do still consider Northwestern home and plan to return as often as I can.

Also, now that I’m away in a smaller city (Boston), the more I realize how amazing of an experience it was to live near a major city during college. Seriously, undergrads, take advantage.

Northwestern is on spring break the week we are predicting decisions will come out (16th - 26th). Does this mean they probably won’t come out that week?

I don’t think so…

Last year decisions came out on the 24th. Northwestern’s Winter exams ended on March 18, 2011 and spring classes began on March 28, 2011. So they did release decisions during Spring Break last year.

I’m guessing it’ll be the same this year too (maybe they want to get everything over and done with before students come back for Spring quarter and things get really busy/chaotic?)

Eeeeeeeeeep! We might know in less than 2 weeks time…

They’ll send us an email about when decisions will be released soon, right?

Oh man I REAAAAAAALLLLLLLYYYYY hope so. Trying to occupy myself with schoolwork and ECs!!!

Do they tell applicants about decision release on the day that they come out or in advance?

how does nu notify? because as far as i know i haven’t received a username/password for an online component to check app status

you’ll get an email.

I don’t remember knowing the date in advance. It was, however, the same day as Berkeley.

During last years’ ED cycle, folks in the Admission Office told callers they didn’t know when decisions would be released as late as the morning of the day they were sent out, so I don’t think they announce the date in advance.

When D was notified, we got an e-mail saying her decision was available on-line. That e-mail contained a link. As has been mentioned, many folks had that e-mail end up in their Junk Mail folders, so it is worth adding the NU addresses to your Safe list in advance.

I was deferred ED back in December and admissions told me that they deferred less than 30 ED applicants! Do you guys know anything about how many deferred applicants they accept RD? Northwestern remains my first choice and it would mean the world to me to be accepted!

8 - 16 days, you guys. Let’s hope it’s 8!!!

Applied to Medill, can’t stand to wait for the decision much longer…

Not sure if this is right, but I collected this info from stalking College Confidential. Speculate all you want!

Class of 2016: ???
Class of 2015: March 24, Thursday
Class of 2014: March 25, Thursday
Class of 2013: March 26, Thursday
Class of 2012: March 25, Tuesday

@drewski94- thanks that’s good to know! I guess this means it’ll be either the 22nd or 29th this year?

this is the school i am most nervous about. 24 people from my school applied. 2 were admitted ED. that probably significantly lowers my chances. im having a slight heart attack just thinking about march 24-26 now.

After I had an interview with the alumni, I want to go to Northwestern even more!! Good luck everyone
