Official Rice/Baylor Thread!

anyone have interview?

When/how were interview requests sent?

So I know around 1600 apply and 18-ish get accepted. Of the applicants who get rejected, how many are at least invited to attend Rice as an incoming freshman? Because Rice is a great school to get into, with or without a program!

Also, I notice on a lot of these forums, people with ridiculously high stats still get rejected from competitive programs like the Rice Baylor prgm. Now seriously. If an applicant has above average stats (does a lot of ec’s, high gpa, decent standardized test scores, etc.) but not perfect stats, don’t they still have a shot at one of these programs? In Rice’s prgm, does every accepted student have a 2400 SAT or is a world class violinist or something over-the-top like that? I guess my question is: aren’t there any UNCONVENTIONAL students that get in the program? Given, statistics are very important for these programs, but everyone can vouch that there are brilliant people out there who may not have the highest grades but can make better doctors for the future.

im interested in the rice/baylor med program, but i dont kno if i have what it takes to get in. like ive been getting a 3.8 for the past two years but freshmen year i screwed up big time due to family problems. how much will that hurt me?

i’m pretty sure they send out interviews after rice sends regular admission, so it may be as late as late april… i may be wrong though

The web says that the interview requests should be sent out this month…So scared…

has anyone been accepted to rice undergrad yet? if so when did you mail in your applications?

I don’t think we will be invited to interview until the end of march

Looks like this has been posted but anyone hear from RICE yet about graduate interviews in BioE? I got the big denial from UW BioE end of February. I think RICE is as equally competitive so I am not sure it is going to happen.

To Those Who Got Accepted,

Please share your stats as the followings:
State of residency
SAT1
ACT
SAT2
AP
HS Rank
Essay, Recommendation letters, Interview
ECs
List of BA/BS-MD program that you applied
Others …

Thanks,

I’ve heard some people have gotten interviews, where and how was everyone notified?

they notified by email

i’ve been invited to interview!

has anyone else gotten a different day than april 4th? i have a conflict with that date since i have a state french competition to go and was wondering if they offer interviews on more than one day.

I got an interview invite too. Mine says April 4th as well. So the entire thing is basically from noon to 4?

i guess april 4th is the only day…
sherryg, im guessing u live in texas?

oh congrats?

did anyone else get one?..email? and does Rice sent them all out at once? because NU HPME was extended for a long time

nope i live in florida. do you think there is ANY way i could ask to reschedule?

Hey,
I also got a Rice/Baylor Interview!
Does anyone know what the interview questions/process consists of?
Thanks

Hi guys,
I guess I’ll be meeting you all soon, too. Does anyone know if we can reschedule the interview? I have a schedule conflict, and I find it hard that the program can interview all finalists within the 3 hour interview time. Please help! Has anyone had any other date than April 4?

Also, has anyone received the detailed schedule/program?
