“:In order to better accommodate your housing requests, housing assignments are not released until ** Thursday, August 13, 2009 ** or when you are assigned after this date. Please check back then for your specific assignment.”

Seems like they can’t keep a deadline. This gives people like me, in band, only 11 days to coordinate with our roommates, and normal honors freshman only 14 days.

Well, I hear USC honors students get paired like this…you stand in line outside of your dorm on move-in day to “check in”. Then your roommate is the person standing next to you!

Soooo…

There’s not much to coordinate…fridge, tv, carpet, bunk/not is about all that matters. as long as you have 1 weekend it’s plenty of time (although my roommate was in a foreign country until the day before we moved in)

I can understand why it’s hard to keep a deadline, especially if people are continually requesting to get out of housing/to get put in a special dorm/etc.

Yes, it might be hard, but their deadline even contains a backup plan (the part beginning with or). My question is why they didn’t just instate that backup for a small number of students and let the rest of us know. To me, it seems logical for them to release what they know, rather than keep us in the dark for no reason.

Roommate notifications are up now - it looks like they sent out an email saying that you can log in, but that there may be some that are delayed.

I just txted daughter…she was quite annoyed last night when she saw the “delayed” notice. We’d found her roommate’s name and the room # back when our CC friends found the “back door” link…before ResLife shut it down; she wasn’t able to contact her (too common a name to find her online). I’m glad they did a “NEVER MIND”!!!

Yeah, I’m glad they changed their minds as well. I found out from the backdoor, but wanted to know the official ruling before I bought anything.

I suspect that an intern with a cynical sense of humor did this as a prank. :P

Yes we had known for some time - we even got an email address for my daughter’s roommate - but we were just in a holding pattern until we saw it officially.

I have a feeling they were going to delay, as some assignments were not complete, but as you mentioned before, ElBlufer, it made more sense to get the majority notified and deal with the stragglers after.
