Does anyone know whether we get online score reports for subject tests?
800 was 81st percentile just like I said. The curve is too easy. 19% should not be getting a perfect score. Smh
I thought detailed report will show # of correct and # of wrong answers. All it showed is percentile.
Yea they never show that
After reading all of the replies to your question, I feel like my score is just not fair for everyone else who got an 800; I did nothing to prep for the test at all. So many people worked hard for it, and I just winged the test.
@MorePie It’s alright anyways, you knew the material just as much (rather, enough) as anyone else did. If you winged the test that means you have studied these topics before, some of us never encountered such things and we have to study, you might have already been studying for the test but you were just unaware while they deliberately did. Although 800 is given out like samples at a supermarket for Math II, you deserved the score much like everyone else who did. Shouldn’t feel bad really, I do believe they should make the test more difficult though (after I get my 800 obviously).
@Hamlin @MorePie i don’t think they should make the test more difficult; i think they should make the standards more realistic. its unfair for the real perfect scores that you can get 5-6 wrong and still get an 800. the raw score necessary for an 800 should be around 46-47, rather than 42-44. If they don’t wanna change that, the least they can do is make the percentiles correlate with the score you genuinely deserve. they should make the 50s 99th percentile, and the 43s 81st percentile, not have everyone be the same crappy 81st percentile if its undeserved.
@baller55 Of course, an even greater idea that would be much more fair! Don’t see why I didn’t think of that But yeah I agree, 800 should be more of a challenge to get, the rigor should remain but the actual scoring should be a bit more strict. However, I do find it a bit strange that students study for a single week and achieve an 800, perhaps increasing the constraints will increasing the time invested studying for a perfect 800.
I studied for less than four days and I got an 800, I didn’t even go over my weak areas: matrices and vectors.(They weren’t on the test)
@Kyuutoryuu I have a TI 84 Plus C. Do you think it’s worth getting and learning the CAS for this exam? I understand it’s banned in most colleges so I’d just be selling it off afterwards.
I did a practice test the night before, walked in the next day, and walked out thinking I bombed the test due to crap time management. Somehow still managed an 800.
I am new to SAT II’s and have a question about the scaling for these tests. Is it better to omit or answer the question when you aren’t sure about a particular question? Which subject test has the more generous curve; Math 2 or Bio?
Anyone got tips for studying for this? I went through Barrons and went over topics I didn’t know. I got a 760 on the test in the subject test book but got 680 on this.
@RoadtotheIvies98 If you can’t eliminate any answer choices, omit. If you can get rid of a few, guess. Math 2 is more generous.
@Honickmonster That’s really surprising, Barron’s is harder than the actual test. I can tell you what I did, not sure it will help. I also used Barron’s as well. Read the whole book because I haven’t taken Pre-Calc since middle school and I forgot a lot. Did each of the practice tests 3 times each. 800. Is time management your problem perhaps?
I did run out of time and left a few blank but they were all ones I couldn’t figure out.
Always guess. Odds are that if you go in and answer every question without reading a single one, you’ll guess 20% correct. For every 4 you guess wrong, guessing 1 correct counts just as many points in your favor. So if you guess on every question and have absolutely no idea what the correct answer is, odds are you’ll get the exact same score as someone who omits every question.
Considering you’ll always have an idea of which 2 or 3 answers are correct for SOME of the questions, guessing on everything is still better than omitting. Unless you absolutely BLOW at guessing, guess on all of them. I answered everything and still got an 800.
Well everyone has their own methods for taking tests. Hermit9 prefers to guess. I never guess for Math but then i guess its completely up to you. I had an 800 on my first try, I answered every question too. Luckily i finished all 50 questions in time to go over the first 30 questions and correct about 5 answers
