<p>No, each square had 5 tiles. The black one in the center was a tile (stated in the problem). They probably made it shaded to trick people like that when they went to multiply 40. Because of this, there were 5 total (4 white plus 1 small shaded), making 200.</p>

<p>I didn’t choose the “different way to represent numbers,” because it really wasn’t showing that, but how the roman numeral 4 was similar to the arabic system of 5-1, and the author questioned why other numbers weren’t related to arabic numbers/systems as well.</p>

<p>you’re wrong. the reason the babies were later harmed from substances in the air is because they never experienced them when they were young, so when they became older and were experiencing the harmful substances the effect was deletrious. 100% sure. I’ve had allergies my whole life and understand this concept pretty well.</p>
