OFFICIAL Saturday, October 15 PSAT Thread

nyyankeesfan, im giving a rough guesstimate of 750-770 math, 760-780 cr, and 780-800 writing

thanks, edwardz
i’d be really happy with that

does that sound too optimistic for anybody?

i envy u lol

2-3 wrong on math may be 72-74
Anyone wanna estimate:
1 wrong on math
1 wrong on grammar
2 wrong, 1 omit on CR

I liked this year’s CR sections better than last year’s. I think I totally bombed the sentence completion part of last year’s PSAT because there were just so many words I didn’t know. I’m pretty sure I did decently on the verbal sections this year.

I know I’m a dork for saying this, but CR’s my favorite. I love the critical reading passages. I have no idea why.

Although I’m predicting that I do the worst on CR. So far, I haven’t gotten any math questions wrong (well, out of the ones we’ve discussed, anyway), and I have only one definite writing question wrong. Probably got at least two, but I don’t know.

I don’t think the Math scale is like that, unless of course they’re really generous this year. Usually 2 wrong is like a 74, and 3 wrong is about a 70.

Does anyone remember the question from the reading passage about which of these made-up situations two siblings would be most likely to remember?
I think I put the answer that had to do with their parents, because the last paragraph of the passage talked something about siblings and parents…?

And in the Roman Numeral passage, which didn’t belong… Arabic 3, Arabic 4, Roman I, II, or III… And why?

Well, it’s already been two days since the test, and that Roman numeral passage is just a big blur in my mind.

But I think I put the neighbors for the question about which memory the two siblings would be most likely to remember. The passage said something about how general memories (like the relationship between two parents) tend to be more accurate when recounted and that they’re more similar between siblings.

Yeah, demeter, I agree with you on that question.

It’s arabic 4 because it is not based on 4 lines. Roman I, II, and III are lines representing their numbers, and Arabic 3 is a distortion (caused by casual writing) of 3 lines.

That was probably the right answer(the neighbors). Btw, the curve can’t be THAT bad can it? 2-3 wrong on math = 72-74? :-O

I got 3 wrong on last year’s math, and that was a 68…

Oh man…

I’ve read this thread from the beginning and haven’t found any CR or W mistakes. I’m sure there are questions that haven’t been discussed yet, but there’s still the possibility of double 80’s… ahh.

80/80/77 would be sweet, however unlikely.

no, I got three wrong on last year’s math and got a 70…

Mooooooooooooooooo

Yeah, and the answer was the neighbors for that one question because that is the only memory which wouldn’t be biased. What state are your from footonthehill161(because I think we’re in the same situation except I got perfect in math)???

Here are my stats on the PSAT:
Math: perfect
CR: 5-6 wrong perhaps, maybe a little lower or a little higher
Writing: 2 wrong

Would I make NMSF if Michigan’s cutoff has been hovering around 210 for the last couple of years???

I live in NJ =)

yes…you should get 80 for math and lets say 78 for writing (although I think it’s an 80, and that leaves a score of 52 for critical writing (to get 210), which you certainly got if you got 5-6 wrong (you probably got something like a 70-72ish I’d guess). That gives you a hypothetical (albeit entirely unscientific) score of 228-230. Good luck…I hope you are correct in your guesses of how many you got wrong.

Saying “no,” as if your claim contradicts mine is absurd. You may have taken the Wednesday test; I took the Saturday test. Some of your errors may have been grid-ins; all of mine were multiple choice.

If you have any doubts about the validity of my claim, please take a look at [my score report](http://ameri-cantraders.com/psatscores.jpg).
