OFFICIAL Saturday, October 15 PSAT Thread

Yeah CR sucked this year because I missed 3 sentence completions whereas last year, I missed none… and Edwarz your curve is too generous… more like 5-6 wrong would be 700+ for thisyear -11 for 600+
At least writing was good!

Dang…lol

You never know lakers, you never know

oh, seaghost btw add conciliating and heal

I’ll add that.

Do you remember what the sentence was, or any other answer choices for the conciliatory/heal one… I think I may’ve gotten that wrong too.

Yeah it was:

The new mayor commended the old mayor for being _______ because he tried to ____ the old divisions in the city…

Or something along those lines. I don’t remember any answer choices except the one i picked =/

Does anyone remember that question from the memory passage… It was like, based on the passage, which of these things would siblings most likely remember?

AHHHH dam i guess ill miss my chance of being a semi… is commended still really good? i mean thats still nationally recognized is it not? ugh…but it seems like getting over 2000 is possible for like everyone so it doesnt sound as prestigious lol. what do u predict my score will be? with 1 wrong and 1 skip in math, 3 wrong in writing, and like 8-10 wrong in cr? omg looks bad…

Oh okay, thanks… Yeah I don’t think I put that… There was another answer choice with a word like “heal” for the second blank. I didn’t know what conciliatory meant.

Lets see…that’s about 770 in math, 780 in writing, and 620-670 in reading??

If all goes well, you’ll be getting a 222, enough for a semifinalist to qualify ;)

NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!

PS. I have to stop thinking about the PSAT

Don’t worry woo, that’s about where I’m at also. Our scores will probably borderline 218… Maybe like 210-218?
And Commended is still awesome.
Colleges do recognize it… It means you ranked in the top 95-99th percentile of kids in your state, which is great.

Damn you, Critical Reading!

WHOA that makes me feel good lol but i heard math is like 740 for me, writing like 760 and cr maybe more toward low 600s lol… i wish ur prediction were true lol. maybe it will be?? after all math was harder and so was writing so maybe they will raise it. i really hope i can be semi…

yea i know seaghost. cr sucks… at least now i know others who are facing problems like me. lol

I feel your pain woo…

I’m headed for a mid to low 600 in reading, pretty good in writing, and pretty good in math, so if I get 800 in math, 800 in writing and 600 in reading, thats a 220!

thats EXACTLY what i hoped for on the psat. with 800 on math and writing, and 600 on cr since thats my weakest area, but it seems unlikely now lol. i cant get perfect on either math or writing. i can only become semi only if somehow, miraculously, i do better on cr than i expect lol. i guess we have to wait till december to know.

If everyone thinks they did really poorly on CR, maybe there actually will be a fairly generous curve.

Does anyone here actually think they only got 2 or 3 wrong on CR?

Everyone I talked to at school thought it was hard… My friend who ranks in the top 2% of our class didn’t even understand some of the vocabulary.

I expect the CR to be brutal but i secretly hope that it will be generous (lol)

Yeah, I’m sure there are some geniuses who actually know the meanings of nefarious and sagacious and conciliatory and onerous and compunction and pretext. Head spins

I’m lucky because my bio teacher kept using the word nefarious throughout the school year, and I knew what impugn meant because I saw it on an episode of the simpsons where Lisa spells it to win a spelling bee; I looked it up.

hahahaha

can you predict my score in each section if i think i had 2-3 wrong in math, 2-3 wrong in CR, and 1-2 wrong in writing?

For the discarded memory question for author 2, I put the dog since he, himself, said that he had forgotten it whereas his brother didn’t. Does anyone agree with me?

so i guess cr was hard for everyone. maybe they will curve it higher. what about math and writing? do u think they will curve that too? i thought they were much harder than last yr.
