Thanks nostalgia14
Actually Im worried about my application as well. Is it a must to complete all the pre-regs in order to have a higher chance or even have a chance to get accepted? I’m applying for nutritional science in cals and one of the pre-reg is completing organic chem I and II. The problem is, the community college that I am currently studying doesn’t offer organic chem I & II now as there aren’t many students interested in taking both courses. Will Cornell waive that pre-reg given that I want to take but the college doesn’t offer that?

For sure Calvin.
Did you explain your current situation on your application because I think that would be a pretty decent reason for not having them completed. I’m not sure whether they’re required or recommended for cals though~ I know ilr recommends the pre-reqs.
No point worrying about it until after we get admissions results ! Unless you’re planning to take those courses and be more competitive for 14’fall.

Yes, I mentioned the situation in my common application.
I can apply again if the school reject me this time. However, I will still be unable to complete the pre-reg. Since there isn’t any school which offer online organic chem courses, I am really worried if they reject my application because of my incomplete pre-reg.

Well try calling them if you aren’t accepted and ask them about your situation. You’ve got nothing to worry about until they get back to us though! So take it easy :]

You guys, I’m experiencing the same problem with my self-service!! It won’t allow me to use any of the options and its ambiguous with errors!! :|:(

With the self service? Did you call ?
Not that I think it correlates to problems with receiving your materials, but better safe.

So I just talked to ILR admissions office - asked them to call me when they have my decision, which they said that is to be made by the beginning of December latest. Notice that this was the decision, not notification. A “handful” of applicants have received their decisions but that’s probably because, like our friend from earlier, if they’re super qualified. They should start rolling out now slowly but surely.

By the way, I was interviewed by ILR. I’ve read everything and I know what that means for my application. But, just wanted to gauge what y’all think - I applied last semester and was rejected. No interview. I applied this semester, with a significantly stronger application and a phone interview. Thoughts? No housing so far :(.

I JUST WANT TO KNOW ALREADY DAMMIT. P.S ILR is the perfect school, just sayin.

@Ahmadmalik18 What was your interview on the phone about? What did they ask in the phone interview and what not? And I have the same situation as you, I applied last semester as well and everything ahah.

It’s fine, Nostalgia14! Thanks for your interest. Everything is fine now.

Ahmadmalik18, I’ really surprised how you received a phone interview! That’s great! How did you get one? Doesn’t the ILR website say that there will be no interviews conducted for this year?

Is it the same for cals to give out decisions by latest early dec?

Ahmadmalik18? Who did you have your telephone interview with? Ian?

Ahmadmalik18, are you talking about Spring 2014 at all? I asked Ian and here is his response: “We do not hold any interviews. For our spring transfers, a small number of decisions might be made early, but we typically need to review most of the pool before making most decisions. Our goal is to have all decisions finalized by late November/early December.”
So I have to doubt what you said…

Yeah I also heard there were no interviews for ilr applicants anymore, but maybe he had a special situation.

does anyone know about cals? when will they start to give out acceptance letter?

Haha guys I totally understand your doubt. I was surprised too! They called me directly. I assure you I’m not lying! I have reason to! I’m a superbly under qualified candidate compared to y’all, judging from what y’all have posted!

My interviewer was a member of the ILR admissions staff, and asked me about my previous economics coursework, Why ILR, and if I had any questions. Now I was able to stretch those three questions out for about 30 minutes (yay interviewing skills), so it went pretty well.

My interview was not with Ian, although I’ve had email communication with him for my coursework, which he said was perfect in terms of aligning it to the ILR curriculum.

Trust me, the interview threw me off. They’ve clearly stated that they only offer phone interviews on a case to case basis.

I feel like nobody’s heard back for a while now. Hopefully that means there’ll be a big wave of decisions rolling in this week!

Great to hear Ahmad, they definitely gave you an interview for a reason so don’t doubt yourself!
Yeah piano hopefully this weeeeeek.

Hey guys, I have a serious question! Does Cornell CHE focus on the grade point average of the major you are pursuing or the cumulative grade point average. I have around a 3.3 cumulative, but for my major i have a 3.77-3.8. The only reason why my cumulative is low is due to the stupid core curriculum. HELP (feel free to PM me) :)

Well, in my book, congratulations to you, Ahmadmalik18! To be completely honest with you, for an admissions representative at Cornell (or any other top school, for the matter) to take time out of their individual busy schedules occupied by catering to the waves of applications of eager applicants EVERY SEMESTER to personally contact you without a previous notice or permission (from you, of course) means that you have obviously done something to intrigue the ILR admissions staff, at the least. I hope I’m really not wrong on this one because I really want you to be accepted! Well, if you’re accepted just remember that you got co formation from me first!!:)

Also, would you mind sharing your academic credentials? Thanks in advance, buddy!
