Official Spring 2014 Cornell Transfers Thread

Have any transfers ever been rejected for attending an institution that doesn’t match Cornell courses closely enough? I’m hoping I won’t be the first one…

@FindmeFazo I must admit that has been a fear of mine as well; to be considered a competitive applicant only to be denied admission due to a lack of similar courses. I’m applying to CAS which doesn’t seem to list any specific required courses; just a year’s-worth of courses. I’m sure the requirements differ by school.

hey guys, I’m applying for Fall. A question: if I don’t have a lot of prereqs of the major I’m choosing to transfer to, should I put in undecided? Does this harm the chances of getting accepted?

thanks a lot

Hey werpofili, I am actually applying for the fall again since I was rejected for the spring. I don’t know if you can apply undecided- I never researched it, but what I can tell you is that if they do allow undecideds it would be circumstantial to what type of college you’re coming from and the reason you’re transferring for. Since, for most of us I am guessing the reason we are transferring (at least on paper) has much to do with the corresponding school’s program at Cornell.

Yeah, I mean, the option is there on the Common App. An they say that if you are applying as a junior, you should choose a major. But there is no place to chose if your applying as a junior or soph. So I’m guessing choosing ‘undecided’ would put you in the soph categorie

Allright as long as you have a good reason for transferring I don’t see anything wrong with it. Try talking to one of the admissions people and asking them how successful undecided transfers are compared to other transfers- that could be interesting?

Yeah, I think Ill ask them and see what I can get

Is anyone applying for a CS major at cornell? I have some quick questions to pm!

Hi. I had an architecture transfer interview last week, but my interview only went about 30 minutes…Am I messed up? I heard admitted students mostly had 1-2 hours long interviews… I’m really worried.
