Official Spring 2014 Cornell Transfers Thread

Yep someone said earlier it would be the week of Oct 28th and I’m guessing the first acceptances will roll out Nov.1 (this friday) since the first ones went out Nov.1 last year as well. Best of luck everybodyyyyyy.

whats the deal with housing login? is it just a myth or can anyone log in?

Some people could log in, in past years. But I’ve also heard that being able to log in doesn’t mean you got in, and not being able to log in doesn’t mean you didn’t get in. I’ve never tried it just cause I would relate being able to get on housing as getting in xD and i don’t think its true.

I’m sorry that I have some bad news, guys! I called Olivia Owens, the Administrative Assistant of Undergraduate Admissions, today and I asked her when will decisions most-likely begin to be released. She replied that, because of the Common App database issues that almost every school member is experiencing, the decisions won’t be released until late November to early December. Is that alright for everyone? Let’s just hope that we receive great financial aid awards!

I think the decisions are made by each college of Cornell and will be released in rolling basis. Wouldn’t be too worry about the timing either way - what’s mean to be will always find its way! And I am not applying for any financial aid. Good luck everyone!! <3

Hey everybody, I need your guys opinion on my transfer chances to Cornell. (It’s alright to be honest, I won’t be hurt.)

Current College: North Iowa Area Community College (60 credits after this spring)
H.S. GPA: 2.9 (4.0 half my junior year and all of senior year)
College GPA: 3.74
Never took the ACT
Major: Psychology, therefore College of Arts and Science
I’m verily confident my essay will be strong and that my story and reasons for wanting to transfer are strong. I also plan on running XC/Track if accepted, I don’t know if that would matter or not.

But let me know what you guys think!
Thanks a lot!!

Just solely off your GPA you definitely have a shot. Your 2.9 cumulative hs won’t matter since you got 4.0 half of junior/all of senior and on top of that your 60 college credit is a 3.74. I mean to say that they won’t focus much on your hs gpa with 60college creds. Do you have extra currics that you can tie in with psych?
I have no idea about the XC/track part, but I’d say it shows you’re involved in something you care about. (Betting you have a history of being in xc/track)
And you also said you never took the act-does that imply you took the SAT? I’ve heard that if the score isn’t high don’t report it.
(Keep in mind I’m replying with absolutely no knowledge about the Psychology major at Cornell. So take it with a grain a salt, and I’m sure you’ll get more grains of salt from other forumers.)

By the way, has anyone received the ‘missing document’ reminder ever?

So, I can log into housing… Should I read into this or can others do the same?

^I for one cannot log into housing I just tried after reading your post.

I actually tried logging in multiple times to the point where my access was denied…

They don’t let me see the login page anymore the first time it doesn’t work

I’m hoping I can get some feedback as well! I’m pretty anxious as Cornell has always been my dream!

Applying to the School of Hotel Administration!

(I’m sorry if I sound pretentious! I’m really not trying to come off that way at all!)

Accepted to CALS!!

Congratulations transfersg!!! You deserve it! Did you receive your acceptance via mail or online?

Congrats!!! That’s awesome!!

Congrats!!

Great job, transfersg! I’m very proud of you. I don’t mean to be a ■■■■■ (something I would never long to be), but would it be too much to ask of you to post your acceptance letter online without showing your personal information?

Congrats!

Emalo: it would be crazy if they didn’t take you. But it’s Cornell and there’s only a few spots for spring transfer so I can’t say anything… I’m also a SHA applicant. Where are you from? Are you a sophomore?

Thanks everybody!! And I got an email. I may be getting it before anyone else because I’m on a leave of absence for the semester from my old college, so there is no midterm report for them to consider.
