I went to Best Buy today, drooled over TVs I couldn’t afford, considered buying one I could, and decided to save my money for college. Then I went over to Target and grabbed a 2 TB external hard drive for only 69 bucks.
And that’s the most shopping I’ll do all year. :P

…o ye with self-control.

Haha I feel ya NickClyde! My grandmother gives me money every year to shop with on Black Friday and this year I didn’t spend any of it because of all the things I need for college… My parents will buy me some, but I don’t know how much they’ll buy me! What kind of things will y’all have to buy for college that your parents won’t cover?

Hey everyone! I think I might have posted on this thread once or twice to ask a random question about the application process, but I’m not too sure. Anyway, since my application was submitted a looooooooooooooooooooong time ago, I figure it’s time to start talking with people who are going through the same emotions as I am.

I’m a Hispanic male who goes to a large public high school in Houston, TX that very rarely sends kids to top schools. I love playing soccer and Magic the Gathering (nerd), and I’m super excited to turn 18 in about a week! In addition, I’m President of Student Council and Copy Editor of Yearbook. Before I go off to college, (hopefully Stanford) I want to learn to speak Spanish fluently (a Hispanic that doesn’t speak Spanish, go figure) and gain about twenty pounds.
I know that I’m late to the party, but I’m looking forward to getting to know you guys over the next 13 or 14 days before decision!

hey guys!
I’ve been creeping around for quite a while and thought I’d introduce myself :). I also applied to Stanford REA!
I’m 17, half Australian, half Indian and I live in Malaysia for my dad’s job. I go to an international school with about 160 kids in each grade.
I also speak French fluently and I’m currently learning Mandarin :)

nice getting to know y’all! welcome :]

to everyone else who’s hiding…
LUMOS! REVEAL THYSELVES!

Thanks for the welcome nerdess! I see you are already attending Hogwarts, no need to attend Stanford. ;)

Welcome, reallyreal and improvprincess
I’m Courtney, and I’m on this thread like 18 hours a day. No joke. So, nice to meet you.

Also, nice HP reference, nerdess. This is why I like you :)

@ improvprincess: Do you go to ISM by any chance? Or ISKL?

Thank you for the welcome as well Courtney! I am still kicking myself over the fact that I have not seen Deathly Hallows yet.
I’m probably the worst HP fan ever.

hahaha I like you all too! ![]()
so long as my food bellay is full, I’ll be content. :]

@reallyreal, reason behind your “name”?
It’s pretty cool. You can be "reallyreal"ly jerk or "reallyreal"ly cool or "reallyreal"ly awesome or "reallyreal"ly weird or "reallyreal"ly…

okay. I "reallyreal"ly need to control myself.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. TOO MUCH ATP IN MY SYSTEM.

I digress.

Brrrr. It’s cold in California. ><

@reallyreal, I haven’t either >< I prolly will over the winter break! :]
and before I do that, I need to do a HP marathon.

FAVORITE HP MOVIE?
1st one always makes me tear. The good ol’ days…

Harry Potter movies started and ended our childhood.

IT’S COLD IN CALIFORNIA??? It is currently 25 degrees here in St. Louis, Missouri. I’m gonna have to drive home in the ice/snow tomorrow and it will be NO FUN.

Nerdess… by ATP you’re referring to adenosine triphosphate? oh dear… you know you’re a nerd when your crazy rants have biological support… :P

haha thanks nerdess. The story is nothing too exciting. After one of my week-long student council junior counseling summer workshops, everyone was saying there goodbyes and whatnot. One of my campers came up to me, gave me a hug and said how great she thought I did that week. “You are just really…real.” It was extremely funny at the time and it kinda just stuck with me. :)

yes, I do indeed mean the adenosine triphosphate that produces two pyruvates!
Holy, I had to memorize all of the molecules and little enzymes and the byproducts and other misc. reactants with proper coefficients of cell respiration in a single week [along w/ the rest of ch. 9]. Then on the last day, we got quizzed. Had to draw out the diagrams under twenty minutes on a sheet of paper. PHEW.

and SHEESH I’m sorry I ever complained! The issue is, it was about thirty degrees warmer [average] just last week, and the temperature dropped in the last few days like crazy. Talking about sudden transition from summer to winter!

HEY REALLYREAL, YOU WERE ON COUNCIL JR YEAR?
high five
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
I was junior class president. hahah. oh man…priceless year it was, my junior year.

Knaveries. I love this thread.

Nerdess- are you friends with me on facebook? If you are, go to my mobile uploads and look at my AWESOME glycolysis diagram. It’s mostly awesome because it shows up best under a blacklight (we used blacklight paint). But I sooo feel ya. For our bio class last year we had to memorize all the molecules for all the steps of glycolysis, the krebs cycle, electron transport chain, and this year we have to know that PLUS the enzymes that catalyze the reactions each step of the way. Basically, it sucks.
Student Council? HELL YEAH.

Knaveries?
Sounds like knaves on lingeries.

okay yes I truly have too much ATP in my system.

Courtney didn’t you say Victoria’s Secrets had a nice sale today? :P

[trying my best to stay on topic, you see]

btw isn’t it like 1:33am for the east coast CCers? haha not that it’s particularly late [by our standards, I presume] but still! xD

I was actually on Student Council every year of high school haha. Ahhh… all of this ATP talk brings back fond memories of AP Bio last year, but not the labs. I HATE labs with a passion. A fiery passion of hatred, if that makes any sense at all.
