*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

oh, I thought applicants left.
I am predicting a surge in chance threads in the coming days.

okay guys, time to get our confidence up. What do You think will get you into Stanford?
Hopefully it gets the stress off.

Yeah I got one yesterday, I think they sent it out the 22nd though cause that’s the date on the top. It was addressed to my father.

@lakernation I don’t live with my legacy-relative so that makes sense why I didn’t know of any letter

This thread isn’t busy as last night. Makes me sad.

Is it binding?

Time for me to join the thread since I smell football talk.

  1. Stanford should be number 4 now and since there’s a clause that says if there is a top 4 BCS ranked team that’s NOT a conference champion (darn ducks) they get an at large bid to the Orange Bowl against the ACC winner (presumably Vtech).
What could happen though is that some analysts want to vote Stanford over TCU, because Boise’s loss proves the weakness of the WAC and MWC. (plus boise only beat oregon state by a couple scores, while Stanford blew them out tonight). Then if Auburn loses to SCAR, which is possible since SCAR took down Alabama who should have beaten Auburn, Stanford would presumably be the second ranked team, putting them in the NCG against Oregon. Or if Auburn loses and TCU plays in the NCG then Stanford would be in the Rose Bowl against Wisconsin. Whatever happens GO CARDINAL.

Can someone explain this situation with emails being sent out on Friday?!

If you’re referring to Stanford’s REA policy, then no, it isn’t binding.

Well, admissions decisions have traditionally been released December 15th, but in the past few years, they have been sent out the Friday before the 15th.

What? That’s odd, I could have sworn that Stanford had binding early admissions. perhaps that was before

CC isn’t as busy—we’re all catching up on hw we procrastinated? At least, I am. XD

nah folks REA for Stanford isn’t binding but it’s restrictive in the sense that you can’t EA/ED anywhere else. WHICH MAKES NO SENSE since if we get in we don’t have to go anyway so…I mean, why make it restrictive, seriously…

REA is nonbinding. I will bet someone a million bucks for that. :)

I agree with bobleman300…go Cardinal! That game was great but not at all exciting like the other games this weekend!

By the way, all of this talk about binding and nonbinding, chance me, and when the decisions will be sent out makes me smile! I am constantly thinking of THE decision!!! This just shows me how alike we are on this one thing :0) What will be will be… I am accepting this. I did what I could, and I can definitely say that I am proud of myself however this turns out!

Wooh enough of the anxiety-inducing stuff for tonight…
You know what all of us need? To get out of the house on Saturday nights and get laid instead of sitting on CC :)

Nahhh. The trick is getting laid after getting the decision. It can either be celebratory or an anti-depressant.

Really, wow

I was actually thinking about that tonight… I’m gonna party if i get accepted and ESPECIALLY party if i get rejected…

Nah, I’m just kidding. I’m not really the party type, though I’ve heard that the parties on campus are pretty decent. My friends, whom I wouldn’t have expected to be the party type last year, told me they’ve been going to parties now that they’re frosh there.

…isn’t it kind of awkward to be posting about that sort of thing on here? I mean, we do kind of reveal some of who we are on here (I definitely used “knave” or a variant thereof in at least one essay), and it’s not improbable to think admissions officers see this.
