*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

In this fall, I’m going to take my talents to Palo Alto and join the Stanford Cardinal.

hahahaha i like big kevs. can i have my dad then write a letter to my friends saying i was never really good anyway and guaranteeing they all graduate from a better school before i graduate from stanford

Did you know that Stanford technically doesn’t have a mascot? They use the tree, but that is actually the city mascot of Palo Alto, not the university. Fun fact!

therealoc, make sure he uses comic sans!!

“In this fall, I’m going to take my talents to Palo Alto and join the Stanford Cardinal.”
ahaha I hear ya BigKev.
It’s not all talent though Lebron, you always need a little Luck to win, and that’s why the Cardinal will be taking down the Hokies.

bks… i had no idea what you were talking about so i googled it i get it now…ill make him use it obviously haha

Hey guys!

I applied to Stanford early also. I really hope decisions come out tomorrow like predicted. I can’t take it anymore!

Good luck!

Gah for some reason I’m just not nervous. I wonder if it’s because I’m not able to realistically imagine myself getting that acceptance email, so my mind is just helping to prepare for the bad news by not getting excited? I don’t knowwwwww

Haha, I’m sort of the same way. I keep imaging how I’d respond if I got in, yet I am constantly reminded of how small my chances of getting in are that I don’t really expect to get it. I imagine myself getting denied and being like, “Okay, that’s over. I think I’ll go get a soda and watch a movie.” or something else equally apathetic. But if I get in… a totally different story. I’ll be out feasting at a good restaurant all night!

How do you imagine yourself responding if you get accepted?

18 hours…

[Countdown to Dec 10, 2010 3:00 PM in San Francisco](<a href=“Time since Dec 10, 2010 3:00 pm started in San Francisco”>Time since Dec 10, 2010 3:00 pm started in San Francisco)

OH MY GOD.

emailing them and telling them they made a mistake

If I get in, I’ll probably pass out

When you all say the decisions are coming out tomorrow, do you mean that we might be getting an admission email?? I surely hope so! :)

Dang, closer than I thought! I’m on the eastern seaboard. I (stupidly) thought it was gonna be 3pm my time. Ahhh! It’s not.

rosegirl777, that’s how it typically is. You receive an email with your decision. If accepted, you’ll also receive the thick envelope with further information, and if not, then… not shrugs.

If i get in, I’m hugging every palm tree on campus. And possibly crying like a little girl.

Where are you guys hearing about the Dec. 10 admission announcements? I heard the same from my friend who’s applying to Penn, but not from Stanford or any other schools

I heard it originally from someone who was REA last year. The theory the way he explained it was that they release the announcements in droves on the Friday before expected and immediately shut down the office to stave off dealing with angry calls from parents and “you made a mistake” emails for the weekend. But yeah, for the last 3 years, the announcements have been on the friday before at 3pm San Francisco time.

If I get in, then I’m going to sit quietly in my room for a little while. Then…wow this is actually hard to plan because I really don’t think I’ll get in…haha. I can’t really go out and celebrate, because I REALLY need to study for exams next week. I think I’ll just call every family member and then spend a little time with friends (some of whom will have just found out from Penn and Dartmouth)

I’m in the same position with finals and whatnot. But then, if you’re in, how much do finals really matter? What a pleasant thing to think about if you do get accepted.

OH MY GOD. i know right? I want to be accepted so bad so I can let the senioritis take over even though that probably won’t happen haha
