*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

i’m with you courtney  so excited!

I hope we win too, but the soccer team is praying that we don’t win because I’m their sweeper and we play our biggest rivals for soccer on Tuesday. Ahh…conflicting athletics = major crisis. I’m not a huge fan of seeing the movies on premier nights because I hate it when people sing along to the HP tune during the movie, so I’ll probably wait a couple days anyways.

less than a month of waiting!!!

Oh Michelle, you are just too perfect.

29 days…

and the wait…

…

…

…

…

… continues

:-/

Ugh, tell me about it. I could REALLY use a time machine right about now…

my middle name is stanford. you think that’ll win over the admission officers? haha kidding ;)

Seriously?! That’s pretty awesome haha.

It’ll be an article in some education edition of the NYT next year: a sudden epidemic of people changing their names in an effort to get into college.

“Please admit me!” cries John Hopkins, age 17… his best friend, Leland Rice Jr., is split between two schools.

well i’ve had that as my middle name ever since i was born

Dang I wish you could like post on CC.

Wilfran imaging a “1 person likes this” beneath your post. You’ve made me laugh so much. :)

^^ I didn’t think you’d changed your middle name- I’m just joking about how other people might take inspiration from your name next admissions cycle.

^Why thank you :D

Unfortunately for our poor friend John, he will most likely be rejected on account of the school’s name being Johns Hopkins. ;)

I know that- but ‘Johns’ sounds too desperate. I’d rather make it ‘John’ to emphasize that these used to be normal, non-college names.

Hahaha. Point taken. :)

Haha!! I can actually imagine people changing their names to get into college though … -__-

Or, at least desperate parents doing everything possible.

wulfran – you’re awesome! I haven’t laughed so much in days :D

courtneyenpointe – I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE HARRY POTTER MOVIE SOOO MUCH!!! :D:D:D

I wouldn’t be too surprised if I saw it happen.

Me too. It’s probably going to be a while before I watch it though, because it’ll probably be sold out for some time

Hi everyone! I’ve come back to CC because I know it’s application time, which means that a lot of you have been messaging me questions. I just thought I would come back and help you guys because I know exactly what you guys are going through. If you guys have more time than you know what to do with, please go read through:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/800082-stanford-2014-sceaers.html?highlight=2014+official

It gets interesting around page 100 or so. Just saying hi you guys! I guess most of you don’t know who I am, but here’s a little background:

I applied SCEA last year to Stanford, only to be rejected. I got a little concerned, a little being 29 extra applications to other schools. I was accepted to 28 of them and waitlisted at Duke. I enrolled at Princeton, only to be accepted off the waitlist in May for Duke. I am currently attending Duke, so if you have any questions about anything, I’ve been through it all!

Good luck to all of you  I’ll be checking in periodically. I can’t promise too much though, college definitely knows how to keep me busy :)

to Anonymous93, I just saw your profile the other day while I was goofing off during my english class. I literally had my whole class looking at your stats and the astonishing fact that you applied to 29 SCHOOOLSSSS. (at my school 13 is a substantial amount) Everyone thought you were a fake/made up account just posting that to make people feel bad.

I have a question: Why Duke over Princeton/the other good schools you were accepted to?

That sounds pretty sad, but like Harambee, I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw it happening, given that acceptance rates are most likely going to continue falling…

Anonumous93- hello! I have to say, though, your story is not exactly reassuring…
