26 days til the 10th, which is when we’re expecting the decisions…

^ Wasn’t it the 15th last year?

My first notification will be Stanford, followed by USC for scholarship stuff in January, and then the UCs in March. My safety, GWU, won’t receive my app till much later since it’s RD

For me, it’ll probably be Stanford; then any of my safeties if they decide to break their silence and let me know before their real decision dates- but I can’t predict when/if for that; UMD in January sometime; and everybody else around April 1. (Isn’t that such a horrible date, btw? Why would they even do that?)

^^ It was actually the 11th last year, I believe.

Quick Question-It’s getting to be the middle of Nov. and my Supplement hasn’t been downloaded, and my Teacher Recs are still “assigned”.

When I sent them an email, it said everything was processed, so whats up?

The same thing happened to me. On Naviance it said that my teacher rec was still “IP” but figures it had already been posted. Sometimes they have computer glitches, it happens.

@wulfran, some schools stopped sending out responses April 1st, I know Hopkins does the 2nd to avoid confusion and I believe NYU as well.

They don’t mark supplements as downloaded I believe. And if you check the school forms, click on specific school, look down at the assigned teacher part, it says “downloaded” there if that helps

Decisions came out at 6:00 Eastern time on December 11th last year.

If Stanford says they have it, I think you should go with that. They don’t seem to mark supplements as having been downloaded.

@crmichi: Good for them! It’s too horribly ironic. Especially if there’s some error…

Also, I wouldn’t worry about your documents/recommendations/etc not showing up as “downloaded” or anything else, Stanford is particularly good about notifying you if you’re missing something in your application. They’ll emaill you if you are missing anything, so make sure you either add Stanford to your email contacts, or that you check your spam frequently.

Soo… how important /is/ the interview? Stanford says it doesn’t really count for anything in the admissions process, but the person who interviewed me said that they would see his report before they finish my application. I think that means that the interview DOES count for something…

I mean, I don’t think they’d offer them to us all of a sudden if they didn’t count for something. It’s supposed to be a way to weed out the crazies (though apparently this doesn’t actually work very well…) or hear special circumstances or something that didn’t come through in the application.

FYI, none of the Miami applicants have received a request for an interview (Those that I know).

Are they conducting interviews in Miami?

Just got done with my interview. Sat down in a coffee shop and talked for ~30 min. He read questions from a sheet given to him by Stanford, all fairly generic questions. Nothing too out of the ordinary. If anyone has any questions let me know.

^ Do you remember any of the specific questions?

Oh, and I’m curious about this… if you’re interviewing in a coffeeshop, do you buy a cup of something? I mean, I’d like to, and I feel like it’s more respectful to the shop, but if my interviewer’s already there, I’d feel guilty making him wait… and it might be kind of weird to be drinking during the interview…

I personally bought a frapachino (starbucks), and he bought a brownie. It wasn’t really weird at all.

As for the questions, I’ll try and remember them

Whats your proudest achievement?
How can you contribute to Stanford as a community?
What do you do in your free time?
What school subjects interest you?
What are you curious about?
What are some significant moments in your life?
How do you feel Stanford can help you reach your goals?
Where do you want to be in 20 years?

Thats most of them I think. He gave me time to ask any questions I had as well.

@wulfran, je ne sais pa

Oh, and also ‘How do you think your friends would describe you?’

Wow, that’s like the exactly what my Chapman interviewers asked me!
