*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Yeah, a few times a day, but ususally the same phrases.

^^^ignore

Also, NO WAY JASON?? That’s exactly how I found this site! Apparently I mistyped College Cumfidential into my browser and ended up here! (I am Sooooo kidding, btw)

It shouldn’t be too hard for you then, especially if you understand it.

Lol at Courtney :p

ECs? Well, I’ve been doing iPhone programming for the last two years just about (this January it’ll be two full years). I’m also an active member of Future Business Leaders of America at my school. So I take part in community service activities like tutoring elementary age students at the local library, etc. Right now for FBLA, I’m studying for the upcoming competitive events which begin in February (technically earlier for the ones that begin early on, like projects etc). Last year I got 4th place for a competitive event through FBLA in the state of California. But FBLA is a LOT of hard work. At least at my school. Unfortunately, the adviser happens to be one of the leading advisers in the state, so she’s SUPER competitive, which means me being pushed further than I feel like going. Besides that, during the last two summers I have been a summer camp leader for two weeks each time. It’s a sleep away type of camp where I watch over young children the entire time. Definitely a good experience. I had never dealt with someone who had ADHD before during such a long period of time until this past summer. It was a challenging experience but I learned a lot from it. Also, for two summers I’ve interned at an organization. Basically worked in there Tech services departments. Great hands on experience. yada yada yada.

Those are a few of my ECs anyway.

As far as the site, I did NOT find it by searching for some special entertainment cough /sarcasm… JK. Google just turned it up as a result a couple years ago when I began my college search. Over the years various friends also told me to come here and NOT to come here. I find myself torn as to whether or not I should stay since it can be discouraging and yet encouraging at the same time.

Ugh, I’m still working on my application. Those darned supplements look worse to me each time I glance at them. Did anyone else have that problem? Where every time that they looked, it seemed as though the essays weren’t perfect enough? I’m EXTREMELY dubious of my essay writing skills… I wish that I could write some sort of narrative or other writing instead haha. Completely unlikely.

I forgive you.

“We can both take it and dish it out, so I don’t know why Wulfran felt the need to interrupt our banter.”

This IS a public forum ya dip of course he can interrupt it.

I’m gonna miss this thread in a little less than four weeks :(

Who says all this shenanigans has to stop? I find pleasure in slandering people’s hopes at getting into top notch schools

aye…

I just heard this funny quote at lunch today: “Why are you eating like a barbarian?!” (Try saying it out loud; it’s a LOT funnier then.) We were having a taco salad lunch with nachos, therefore mostly finger food. Figures. :p

Well I imagine if I get rejected it’s gonna be hard for me to keep posting, though I’ll try to keep in touch with those of you I talk to outside of CC  it’s weird that this thread’s days are numbered! (22 days til decisions!)

Twenty-two days? Are you serious?! …wow.

In the meantime, I shall be studying like crazy for the SAT II Physics test and eating like a barbarian ;)

Problem 6.65, AP Stat: “Zack has applied to both Princeton and Stanford. He thinks the probability that Princeton will admit him is 0.4, the probability that Stanford will admit him is 0.5, and the probability that both will admit him is 0.2.” Please find the probability of my attempting to steal his identity sometime in the next three weeks.

Also, Wulfran would like to dismayedly point out that she is, in fact, female… :D

@crmichi- Thanks for defending me. :)

This seems like the perfect time for a quote… “Can’t we all just get along?”

You need to start ignoring the people who are bringing you down or close to it.

Anyways. How many of you have visited Stanford? What was your favorite part of the campus? Did you get food there? Try the dorm food? Sit in on any classes?

I visited in May (flew out to meet my grandparents there) and will hopefully be visiting again in December so my parents and brothers can see the campus (I’m going to socal for Christmas). But atleast if I don’t get in I’ll be five hours away!

I got to visit in… late September, I think. I didn’t get to stay for very long, though. My favorite part of campus was the area around The Claw, which probably has a better name that I have forgotten.

Hey, Sleeet- how’d you learn to program for the iPhone?

I visited Spring of my sophomore year for like 4 days and fell in love. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try the dorm food. Is anyone else terrified for community bathrooms??

HAHA yes I totally am^^^ w/e I think we’ll get over it

^^ I’m petrified, and I hope I get over it…
