*Official* Stanford REA 2015 Applicants' Discussion Thread

According to Wulfran, EVERYTHING!! lol! :p

It’s an… endearing insult? If that makes sense. I think that’s what it is…

I wasn’t dissing your book taste

I don’t mean to offend you at all, I haven’t read either book.

I was saying it strikes me as hypocritical to be so critical to people who enjoy Twilight:
“TWILIGHT? really? I swear to God if I run into any Twilight fans at Stanford I’ll consider my college education an effing waste of my money”
And then say that The Host is a completely different story
From what I’ve heard, the Host is basically the same Twilight dynamics (Smart, pretty heroine, attractive controlling guy, etc) repackaged in an, albeit interesting, sci-fi shell with tons of inner feelings and dramatic monologues.

Now, I haven’t read it, so I’m not sure if that’s true, but I trust my friends opinions enough that I didn’t go out and get them. Maybe I would love The Host, or Twilight. Maybe I’m not ‘mature’ enough. I’m not judging you, just saying you shouldn’t be disrespectful to people who like different things.

Whoa we shifted topic. My bad.

I’m actually not so stressed about decisions.
It’s just like the Robert Frost poem:

" I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

I know in the future I’ll be telling myself that wherever I ended up going for college, Stanford or otherwise, is what made all the difference.

Yeah it’s best if you just move on. Crmichi is feisty, there’s no way around it. Love the poem- I’m a big Frost fan  so applicable and reassuring!

^^ I agree

Right now decline in this microcosm of college but in ten years I doubt well care at all.

*decline was supposed to be we’re in

@fledgling:
YOU GET TO DO A UNIT ON SATIRE.
YOU … you know the rest of this sentence. :D

satire:wulfran::Russia:Chekov

I love you too, you horrible lot. :P

who wants a countdown :p

[Countdown to Dec 10, 2010 7:00 PM in New York](<a href=“Time since Dec 10, 2010 7:00 pm started in New York”>Time since Dec 10, 2010 7:00 pm started in New York)

Haha I’m trying to forget the day so the email will surprise me

Whats the first thing you guys are gonna do if you do/don’t get in?
Get in: Smile. Laugh about it with friends.
Nope: Eat some Ben and Jerry’s. Laugh about it with friends.

EDIT: Also, check out this video
100% computer generated, this is insane:
http://vimeo.com/15630517

^I don’t believe that it’s 100% computer generated…

I know, I didn’t either.

You can check out his other work. Some of his videos show how he makes them, it’s incredible.

You can tell if you watch the way the food shatters when it hits the table
This is from the comments

That’s pretty impressive for a computer generated video.

I’d probably do the same thing, but I’ll more than smile if I get in.

A late response but my names Jon and I live in Florida around ft lauderdale
SAT 2 scores come out tomorrow!!! :open_mouth:
I need them for UCSB and UCSC!! (and if theyre good then mayhbe stanford) :P

I was talking about this with my friends today… If I get in I can’t imagine wanting to do anything but smile… I’d just smile, forever. A celebration wouldn’t be necessary; getting into Stanford’s all the good things one could ask for in a lifetime wrapped into one.

Hiiiii everyone I just landed in denver!!! I’m here for thanksgiving. I missed my phone for the last five hours haha :)

^ Welcome back Minnie (though honestly, you weren’t gone for very long)! :D

How was the flight? Missed you on CC and Facebook tonight!

I don’t know how I’d feel if I got accepted. I think I’d be a little scared at first, and like “is this actually happening?” and then slowly grow into acceptance and happiness.

But I know that if I got rejected I’d be instantly disappointed and immediately hard at work on other college apps.

I missed you too Courtney! It was a good flight but long. I’ve been flying a lot lately and its getting annoying. But hopefully I’ll have to get used to it ;)
