Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Have any of you read the work of John Donne? He was such a player! My new favorite poet haha

we still have no proof its happening tomorrow…i dont think it is…

meditation 17!

I’m more of a Henry David Thoreau fan.

edgar allen poe

@ILLESTxEPITOME The Flea is my favorite. He then became a priest… haha

I hate Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado.”

Am I the only one who is oddly calm? I freaked out on Monday, but I figure they’ve already made their decisions for sure, so stressing out won’t help any.
So I’m reading Hamlet.
I’ll probably start freaking out tomorrow, though, if that makes me more normal.
Counting down the hours!

My friend got into Cornell :)

I’m surprised no one has trolled this forum by saying “DECISION DATES HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED!”

I love Poe! And I love “The Cask of Amontillado.” :D

For whoever doesn’t get in: Occupy Stanford movement on Saturday! We represent the 88%!

We already read Othello and Macbeth. Currently, we’re reading The Iliad. And, after Christmas break, I have a 25 page full analysis due.

Anyone want to find Richard Shaw’s home address? We can personally go meet him and express our displeasure in our rejections.

I like both both meditation 17 and the flea, but I thought elegy 18:going to bed was awesome in a weird way :)

he probly has bodyguards or something considering the number of people whose dreams he destroys

i think poe’s great but unfortunately his stuff has become a little cliche… kids at my school who like never read books quote lines from his poetry and think they’re being intellectual and sophisticated
although cliche stuff can still be good-- ee cummings for example

has anyone read any gustavo adolfo becquer?

Am I the only one that “hates” lit, and I use that loosely. I’m a science technology guy.

Four times the steeeeaaak

Haha, Chris Paul is NOT going to the Lakers. The deal is OFF.

YES!!!

One of my classmates got into Columbia =D

I feel like it’s happening tomorrow…I don’t know why, I just have a hunch. I just want it to be tomorrow so I can have either one of the happiest days of my life or a really disappointing one that will let me get a move on my other applications. sigh I just hope it’s tomorrow.

@thecoolguy, i completely agree. i would much rather learn math and science and history than play with fiction created by poeple who were usually crazy
