Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

I have accepted not sleeping tonight, but I will still go to school ughhh. I basically find it impossible to sleep anyway, so tonight’s stress makes it much worse.

I find it impossible not to sleep… Come around 3 or 4 am I just get so exhausted that I just blink out.

Has anyone had the rejection nightmare? O: I had mine last night. QQ

@cw Yet to come…I seem to have an alarming number of dreams about failing tests though…

@cw
I have Digital Fortress too, it’s good :)

I bought my hardcover of the Da Vinci Code for $1 :D

I also wish I could skip school tomorrow :(

Surprisingly I have not dreamt about rejection or acceptance.
Usually people say you dream about your worst fears or your highest aspirations…

@EN Hahaha… Oh man… I had a dream about failing an exam one time… I woke up sweating and almost in tears, because my fail led to some Grudge/Ring girl to attack and rip my face apart. Luckily for me, I passed the exam :D

Another Owen Meany fan over here!

@amaninakupenda It’s about the life of a boy/man with many peculiar features, and why he believes having said characteristics is all part of God’s plan. It’s told from the point of view of someone he grew up with/was good friends with throughout his life. The end of it is incredibly, incredibly powerful.

just think . . . tmrw could be the turning point in all of your futures.

also: I LOVED OUTLIERS

Not could be, it IS, whether we get in or not :D

@cw484912 I got that rejection nightmare once. ): Not fun.

Ahh, I linked my email to my phone. Now to just try to forget about it and hope it does come out tomorrow.

Aghhh the cursed rejection nightmare…
Do you have a fever dream? I always get this one dream… when i have a fever… so scary omg.

GETTING INTO STANFORD vs. MARRYING THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE.
which would make you happier?

@Unsure: Its more that I refuse to go to school after getting literally no sleep while also just beign checked out of most of my classes because I’ll be refreshing the Stanford page for the first few hours. I’d rather just crash. Missing a day of school is really no big deal.

@Squige, nice man, that’s still pretty good, especially if swimming isn’t your passion! 100 fly and 100 breast are my 2 events, and i missed the state cut offs by just 1 my junior year in fly! haha i was soooo close :confused: I went a 51.77 and the 16th place seed was a 51.73! And then this year I was hoping to make it to state finally and hopefully rank high… but I tore my acl in our 2nd football game of the year and am just now walking again, much less swimming, so I don’t think that’s a possibility this year. But it’s alright, I wasn’t planning on swimming in college anyways!

And to the people that commented about Cronica de una muerte anunciada: The story itself wasn’t really why I consider that books one of my favorites. Sure, it has a decent plot, but I really liked the way Marquez switched the views back and forth, and then the main reason I liked it so much was because I read it in Spanish with the same proficiency that I read in English, and that was so cool to me! It was like reading in a code or something and having it make perfect sense :)

Crime and Punishment was satisfying.
One of my recent favorite books is probably Dracula. >:) I loved it. I had nightmares though!

@Unsureonlife You should def check out Kite Runner since its author is a bay area native :wink:

I really do think that they’re going to come out tomorrow. There haven’t been any big surprises.

Oh and another random question to keep the conversation going. What was your moment in history that you would want to go back and witness?

@StanfordOneDay That’s not even a question.

Stanford is the love of my life, duh.
No, jk. In all seriousness: until death do us apart > 4 years.

Love of my life!!! Duhhhh. I have actually weighed many Stanford or this questions. I decided that for 1 million dollars I would walk away.
