Been silently following this thread for a few days now, and here goes my first ever post on CC.
Deferred. Well, considering my stats, I was expecting nothing short of a merciless rejection. So I guess this isn’t that bad.
Congrats to all those who got in. :)

Accepted! All my teammates jumped on me at practice.

First post------ IN AT MY DREAM SCHOOL :D

Accepted! way too happy.

Wait, got a Stanford ID that said I “congrats again” and gave me Stanford ID, but gave me no original email. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?!

LOL dapotatoman ! I just got the same thing !
What does this mean? Does it mean that we’re accepted and the first email just didn’t go through?

I do not know at all.

ACCEPTED!!! I’m excited to meet all of you accepted next year:)
And to all of you who didn’t get in I just want to say that its a huge honor to just be competitive in admissions for a school like Stanford and I’m sure that you guys will get into other great schools and be very happy there.

Just wanted to say congrats to everyone who got in
I’m applying RD… postponing the pain for a few months hahaha.

Hopefully I’ll meet some of you next fall :x

It sure doesn’t sound like a rejection! Congratulations!

It means your ID travelled faster then your email… Congratulations on a server-glitch acceptance-dapotatoman!

@dapotatoman and mangosashimi
YES! that’s exactly what it means guys. Congrats!!!

Well, where is my response??? Ughhh do deferred not get this email?

I would be asking the deferred people with ID info that came later for a bit of info on the wording they received in the ID email.

So I created my SUNet ID but it won’t let me log in :(

congrats to everyone who made it!
i’ve also been silently following this thread for the last few days… this is my first post! i got deferred
i’m actually feeling surprisingly mellow… i was shocked and so very sad for half a second, and by the time i finished reading the first sentence of the letter, i didn’t feel anything. anyway, what are some reasons that they defer and what are my chances?

for deferral:

December 9, 2011

Stanford ID: ########

,

For security purposes we are sending your Stanford ID in a separate communication.

Office of Undergraduate Admission
Stanford University

Does it say “congrats again”? Did it have a link to the admitted student website? Mine did, what did this mean?

rejected D:
aw well, it was a long shot
congrats to everyone who made it!

@ Passionate1 take heart that you got deferred, it means they thought you were a very good applicant and other colleges are likely to share that view. I don’t know what the acceptance rates are for those who get deferred, but they are better than for those who got rejected. Congrats to all who got in, and good luck to all deferrees in five months

@dapotatoman

I’m not sure what it says for deferred students but from an accepted point of view mine said congratulations once again and linked to the admitted student website.
