Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

May or may not have…? I guess it would make more sense in the context of the essay.

Sanity is overrated

I lost my sanity once I submitted my application.

I’m not obsessed or anxious actually, even though I check this place out several times a day. Don’t get me wrong, I would love more than anything to get accepted, but the odds are so low it would be stupid to feel bad if I don’t get in. I def feel like I gave it my best shot, so I don’t have any regrets, except maybe for not taking the SAT a second time. The best thing is that literally zero of my friends and extended family know I’ve applied to Stanford, so I won’t be embarrassed having to tell anyone that I was rejected. You guys know more about me, haha, than they do. The only sticky thing has been explaining why I didn’t apply EA to the college I’m telling them all I’ll prob go to. Man am I lazy, apparently.

Is it really possible we could hear in 2 weeks? The 9th doesn’t seem possible, even though it is the Friday before the 15th. That’s a full week early.

Well we could, because they received less applications this year. Last year they received like 5990 REA apps, and this year they received 5880 apps, so not much of a difference. But, I think we will hear before the 15th.

@stanfordcs
Yes, Stanford might unleash the letters early, but I think they will inform us before to not get us by surprise.

P.S I’m sure you know where I can read or see the Stanford Acceptance letter from last year. Could you link it to me? xP

Yes I do, here it is: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/890802-how-does-acceptance-letter-look-like.html</a>

Look at post #2, this is for the Class of 2014.

Oh, yeah, they will let us know. They will probably post it on Admissions News of their website.

P.S. I’ve read that letter numerous times; I know it verbatim.

Haha thanks xD

I was under the impression that Stanford tailor makes each of the acceptance letters, is that true?

Can’t believe how precious that letter is…<3

They don’t tailor make each acceptance letter, but they do include a handwritten letter to the admitted student in their admitted student package that the student receives in the mail.

Oh right :).

Ahh, wishful thinking xP. But to be honest when i get too hopeful I really just think about all the students who have won International competitions and been recognized for their insane contributions etc. and I’m just humbled…wonder how many such spectacular students are there in those 58xx apps.

I hope not many, lol.

Hopefully, they all applied to Harvard SCEA.

Damn, Harvard received 4,245 SCEA apps. Much less than I was expecting.

Hahaha StanfordCS xP. Hopefully they all just looked at the USnews rankings and applied to Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, UChic (a lot of applicants there :O), MIT or UPenn .

This year should be around 12.9% accepted and around 8-10% deferred from Stanford. 13 out of a 100 AMAZING applicants…hmm…lol

Sorry for creeping, but I can’t tell if StanfordCS is serious or mocking Stanford applicants by portraying such obsessive behavior…

Don’t forget about Princeton, because they also restored SCEA this year.

@collegeinfo1994, I have become obsessed.

@collegeinfo1994
Trust me he isn’t mocking. Stanford’s just got to him like it has to many of us.
@StanfordCS
Yea Princeton got around 3k applicants :P, Stanford’s just the dream school for too many…it’s like working for Google, everyone wishes they were there.

I guess that’s exactly why we shouldn’t be too sad if we don’t end up in Stanford, I mean even if we had a chance at Stanford its a prestige.

What’s everyone’s second dream uni? Or most-likely-to-be-attending university?

Mine is either Duke or UChicago.

Haha sweet :D, they’re really amazing unis (y). I have to figure out where I want to apply for regular. Applying for Engg. so most of the best universities are either MIT/Stanford or Public.

I’ve applied to UMich, Illinois, Purdue…gotta see where else I can get in really.

What do you guys think? How competitive am I really being an International Indian from Dubai doing the IB Diploma with a 34 on the ACT? Not gonna be applying for aid.

Damn, I was just reading the 2014 Stanford Admissions Results thread, and some guy named aztec91 got in with a 20 on the ACT.

Haha he was probably a ■■■■■ :P, or an URM and an athlete.

I’m definitely not going to be that lucky with another 1.6 billion Indians on the planet…

so how many people know you applied to Stanford early?
