I know that stuff matter but I just don’t like when people say race gets lesser candidates in over better ones

@Rush10
LOL, that was what I was planning to do! haha

@jdlace, Well it’s true

everyone who gets in deserves to get in, its not because of their race. That’s all I’m saying

Isnt is that for Early action they dont consider race so much as a deciding factor and that it plays more into regular decision?

I haven’t heard that.

I don’t think URM is treated differently in REA versus RD… Any sources you’ve found that from, abelinkin60?

nobody “deserves” to get in. It’s a privilege bestowed on those who the AdCom wants on their campus, not a right entitled to every high-achieving kid.

oh, my bad then, just some stuff i’ve heard people say now and again

as to the “everyone who gets in deserves to get in, its not because of their race.” thing, someone actually sent me a study done i think at princeton or some other well known college showing that minorities get a “bump” with respect to scores during admissions. I’m in no way saying this is true, just stating that studies have been done. and before you guys ask, i dont remember the link which will prob make some of you think im lying but think what you will

Of course they deserve to get in… A significant portion of applicants DESERVE to get in and the people who do get in def do. The fact of the matter is that if you were to take the average stats of the races there would be significant differences

Trying to gauge your chances now really isn’t going to do any of us any good, as much as we wish it did.

Let’s just hope for the best.

hey so does anyone know what time around the results will come out? (eastern time would be good!) #soanxious

I think timing of REA vs. RD does matter, despite what a lot of people say, ESPECIALLY for hooks. In terms of legacies, the advantage is usually only conferred during early rounds, similar to athletes that aren’t recruited ahead of time. Not sure about URM…

the point of this argument was to put hooks first on the decision reporting… I think it’s a good idea

Yes yes we all get it, StanfordCS is 100% white, 50% native american, 50% African American, and tomorrow, he will become 10% Korean. Perhaps a week after the week he becomes 10% Korean, he will be full Martian.

Based on that, he will probably get into Stanford University.

I do crew. do you plan on rowing in college?

Has anyone else noticed themselves become extremely introverted during senior year?

@honestly: They indicated 3 pm.

^ I believe that’s Pacific, so +3 for Eastern.

YAYYYYYYYY STANFORDDDDDD.

@StanfordCS - I’m majoring in Econ and Computer Science too. If we both get in, I’ll see you there! If you get in and I don’t, well **** you (but actually congrats), and if neither of us get in, well I’m sure there’s a reason for it (and by that I mean there is no good reason at all, but I’m trying to sound positive).

Good luck to everyone! It’s all a game of chance (and I’ll undoubtedly be angry at those of you who get in!)
