Uh no I’ve definitely heard of adcoms contacting about quarter grades… There’s a reason your gcs email is on the common app

Wouldn’t they do that much earlier?

And isn’t that a function of the Optional Report?

Guys I wouldn’t be surprised if they contacted GCs about quarter grades. Assuming they do, the optimistic guess would be that you’ve been forwarded to committee and it’s an auto-request that GCs submit those grades for the final review decision. The pessimist in me, however, can’t help but guess that they are requesting grades for only borderline apps, in an attempt to narrow down the pile because they’ve admitted too many…in which case I don’t know whether I should solicit my counselor to see if any colleges have asked for quarter grades…

@StanfordCS, that’s kind of sad. I hope that you get accepted, but it would definitely be a good learning experience if it didn’t turn out as you’ve always subconsciously expected…good luck bro.

Ah, if I kind of hope they didn’t ask for quarter grades for me because my quarter grades weren’t that pretty. I’ve since raised them all to A’s, but still. ):

Ahah, but I shouldn’t assume that’d happen to me in the first place.

@unsureonlife, i’m not sure whether you mean an automatic request or a computerized response for my quarter grades when you refer to “auto-request.” but to clarify, it was a personal, hand-typed email, not a mass-fwd to all stanny applicants -not to suggest that no one else was requested any information besides me.

i’d just like some feedback about quarter grade requests. everyone i’ve talked to thinks i’ve misspoken, thinking i mean semester when i insist quarter.

anyone else have any speculations, or know anyone else who has been requested for quarter grades?

This. I had 2 B’s on my midterm report card, both of which I’ve now raised to A’s. nervous laugh

I’m going to pay a visit to my counselor on Monday :p

It was probably your regional rep who sent out the email… Wanted more info to support you in committee

Ah, if the committee is indeed meeting from the 5th to the 9th, we won’t be getting our decisions next week
I can only hope that’s not the case.

All of this is only making me more anxious. :<

Time to work on my other applications now, I guess.

woops. i didn’t mean that it would take 5-9th. rather, that it would occur anytime between the 5-9th. sorry

I had a dream where I visited the school only to have an adcom hand me my rejected file. Then I found out my friend had received a likely letter.

It took me half an hour to realize my friend didn’t even apply yet.
Strangely enough, I was more upset by the likely letter than my rejection. :

In all seriousness, I have heard them ask for grades, but that’s during RD if the counselor didn’t fill out mid-year report.

Didn’t someone say they were already done with the descisions?

^ That’s what I heard. Again, please take it with a grain of salt

It was probably a lady tell me to **** off lol

They definitely call college counselors about grades and other matters ALL THE TIME. According to my Dad, when they call, it’s because a student is being considered and usually the admissions officer is trying to find more ammo for his or her argument for a student, one way or another.

So it’s a bad sign if they don’t call?

Yes. All of you are DOOMED

Ha ha, NO. It is NOT a bad sign if they don’t call. Lets not all get paranoid here. When they call, it’s just because they feel the need for more info about a particular kid. If its grades, maybe they want to see that a kid is staying strong senior year. They call for all kinds of things, sometimes to verify an extracurricular, or to clarify something a counselor or teacher said. It can be a million different things. If it makes anyone feel any better, my Dad says that most Adcoms are trying to find reasons to admit rather than reasons to deny. If they DON’T call, its because they have all the info they need, not because they’ve just decided to deny you. Lighten up peeps.

I sure wouldn’t want them to see my quarter grades, I always start off on the wrong foot, but always manage to get my A’s in the end, the finals help a lot…lol but finals are next week And my quarter grades weren’t that pretty, I mean its not that bad, a couple of B’s even a B- but I’ve since brought it up to an A, and even A+'s
