too much anticipation and fear, im not gonna make it to Friday

I definitely will. Ah, it seems like some officers are asking to prepare their cases going into final committee. If you guys don’t mind, what state(s) are you from?

On my 10-week, I had 2 Bs; on my 15-week, only one, and at this point, I have none. Hopefully, if asked, they at least received my fifteen-week report card.

im from NJ, where a 222 PSAT doesnt get you national merit :’(

I’m from Florida.

So is this committee thing for people who adcomms are not sure whether to admit, reject, or defer the applicant?

How does the admissions process (committees, etc) work at Stanford?

It’d be interesting to see whether those emailed had an upward trend on their transcript, or whether their gpa/sat/act were somewhat borderline before. Would one be emailed if they already had super stellar stats and were going to committee? IMO, I dont think so, but who knows really? Just questions I’m wondering.

StanfordCS, you’re crazy, but I kinda like it. You seem like you’d be really funny in real life if you were to rant! Idunno, that’s just my impression
love the enthusiasm!

Kimchee1212, are you Asian?

I think you might be based on the username. Not trying to be racist or anything.

Wait, was Kimchee accepted last year, and seeing if her GC was contacted?

No, I think kimchee1212 is an applicant for Fall 2012.

Why the hell did my counselor decide to leave town now? Out of all the days he could leave, he chose to go now. I really wanted to know if he had received an email, and now I won’t. Ahh, this sucks!

I’m part-Asian. ![]()
And I wish that was the case, but, no, I’m a current SCEA applicant like all of you. I was just going to approach my counselor tomorrow to see if the inquiries were widespread.

I think you guys are being a bit silly:
If they only accept 10-12% REA, they might ask for 2-3% of the applicants quarter grades (those who are on the edge). And there’s no point in bothering your GC, they would definitely let you know if Stanford contacted them.

@lordfarquaad

Yes, my grades do show an upward trend. All through HS I have taken the hardest classes possible and this is how it turned out:

9th grade: 5 B’s
10th grade: 2 B’s
11th grade: 0 B’s
12th grade (currently): 0 B’s

So, yes. That makes sense for why Stanford would check up on my grades.

My SAT is 2300, for all intents and purposes.

WhartonKid: So your gc was contacted?

Mrcool: My gc might not notify me. She has like thirty students applying to top schools, and she is in charge of another seventy or so.

People will hate me for saying this, but what good will asking your counselors do at this point? We’ve got a week, maybe a bit longer, until decisions are released and nothing’s going to change them. I’m just as curious as everyone else, but ultimately, whether or not your GC was contacted shouldn’t change much - all we can do is wait.

it’s gonna be so weird on friday. last year, ppl didnt even know it was the decision date until like 11AM in the morning. I’m gonna be checking my email and the admissions website all day…sooooo suspenseful

i cant wait anymore, even though its probly bad news

I’m having my doubts about it coming on the 9th, if the final committee is just meeting this week. I sincerely hope it is this Friday, though. This is brutal.

Oh, the brutality. :D

Ah, the anticipation.

Completely off topic: But how does one marry the night?
