Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Oh, they did that for RD, but not EA. I hope so too :)

Occupy Stanford. Lol.

There multiple committees to help them sift through large amount of apps.

LOL at Occupy Stanford.

THE MARCH ON MONTAG HALL.

enough to cover 250 hours of work a day? i remember earlier in the thread that you were debating the number of adcoms stanford had, and that you guys settled in the 30’s area.

i guess i’m just a little skeptical…

Either way, we’ll find out by the 15th. I don’t think anyone - even Stanford - knows when results will be posted. Sure, releasing results on the 9th might be in everyone’s interests, but that might be impossible logistically.

Has anyone else been googling their name followed by ‘Stanford University’ or ‘Stanford Class of 2016’?

Because I have, like every day for the past week since my counselor was contacted.

Gah. So paranoid. So nervous. Ergh.

Well, juggernot, you can call and confirm for yourself if you want.

@Kimchee and Stanford girl…Stanford released decisions early for EA the last 3 years in a row.

Someone go check the 2015 EA thread and see if there are any similarities in the stuff they found out.

They said they started committee last week

Define “committee”, if you would. Is that the final step toward acceptance? Is that where the applications chosen by regional officers are combined and sorted through in a big, central group?

I don’t know…sorry

I was told all applications go to committee, but there are multiple committees at Stanford which help them sift through large amounts of apps.

WhartonKid: From what I inferred when my regional adcom visited my school, it’s like ten (maybe?) admissions officers who all vote on whether a student is admitted or rejected. I forget if you need a majority or unanimous vote. Either it’s Stanford that’s unanimous, or Yale…

Hmm that’s interesting, StanfordCS. I was talking to my GC today (a former adcom at a private top 25 university in my city) who said that where she worked, about two thirds of applications went before committee. The adcoms had the responsibility to sort out one third beforehand. She told me she thought it was odd that a school would review every app in committee.

The only reason I want decisions on the 9th is because I’ll have the weekend to recover. Unfortunately, people do know I’m doing Stanford early, and I don’t want them walking up to me and asking, “So?”

Right now, I’m emotionally ok, but I might just lose my mind the closer we get to the 9th/15th. I hope it comes out on the weekend, at least. I’m not sure I’ll wanna be around people when I bawl.

It’s interesting. I didn’t know that, until I called and 2 different people told me the same thing: ALL apps go before the committee.

I was (past tense) feeling alright, and then I went back to last years thread and read the part–right before they got their emails. Now I’m feeling rather anxious, haha.
I think we’re gonna break our f5 keys ^^
So apparently they send 'em out by geography? I’m right in the middle.

ehh. If they don’t want me, I figure it’s their loss!

they better come out on friday

People have been saying that decisions have been sent out the friday before the official date for the past three years. So when did Stanford send out the decisions four years+ back? Exactly on official date?
