@txn I was wondering the same thing :)

it’s a little outdated, but stanford takes a lot (87, class of 2013) of texans -according to the data. at least compared to other states besides CA.

Is this just because California is a big state or is it because they prefer people who are in the same state as the university?

hmm that’s interesting, thank you juggernot! I feel like thats pretty high… but then again Texas does have tons of people applying so it’s hard to say.

Hahha ya lol… just curious what are your basic stats txn :)

I’m from California, but moved to Texas recently. My own opinion is that for the UC schoos, it is easy for OOS. Pretty much…everyone I know from my Texas school who applied to UCs last year got accepted; Few actually went. It’s so much more expensive for OOS though!
I don’t think it makes a difference for private schools.

umm I got a 2200 on sat

and then my essays I felt were pretty good and unique (like for the “what matters to you and why”, I wrote about belly buttons)

so ya, there you go!

@jinglebell So which do u like better??choose your words carefully!! Lol

^hahaha Texas pride at its finest!

@txn wow!!I hope u get in!
of what ethnicity are you? And what part of texas are u in hahahaha

haha thanks! I’m white… which doesn’t help
but it’s okay! I’m still being hopeful, even though it’ll be a miracle if I get in. I’m from Houston, what about you?

Its practically a miracle and a dream for all of us! O and I’m in austin!
u have the right attitude! Hopefully we will see each other at Stanford
hahaha

oh hey I’m from Houston too ![]()
that’d be cool! haha

I’m Asian. Which…doesn’t really help either.

True that, it’s such an amazing experience if you do get accepted! And ahh nice, Austin is an awesome city. hopefully it’ll work out and we’ll both end up there!

Oh and I read last year that they were calling the day of Admissions decisions the “Stanford Slaughter” because of all the rejections, which really made me laugh!

This year I’m predicting it will be known as the “Stanford Stunfest” with a 100% acceptance rate lol

Ahh nice where in Houston?!? And ya… being asian or white doesn’t really help much at all at big schools like this.

Lol I’m white too… what ethnicity would help?

^ Pretty much anything other than white or Asian

LOL for Asians: [Some Asians’ college strategy: Don’t check ‘Asian’ - Yahoo! News](http://news.yahoo.com/asians-college-strategy-dont-check-asian-174442977.html)

but what if you’re a ‘minority’ asian? say, singaporean. do they differentiate? or would they be grouped with the majority, the koreans, chinese, and everyone else?
