@IAmMars That is most likely the date we’ll find out. It’s not certain though.

And I think (it’s through a family friend) I may have gotten tickets to the Champs Bowl? (ND vs. FSU)

@IAmMars: We can’t be sure, no. But it is likely that decisions will be released on the 9th, per tradition. Stanford has consistently released EA results the Friday before the 15th. I have my doubts this time, though, as it’s almost a week early and committee is still meeting.

Who cares about the NBA? I would’ve rather seen the lockout continue indefinitely…

@StanfordCS, your logic is simplistic and creates problems in the long-run. For those who find pleasure in the economics of the situation:

Price ceilings are necessary in terribly overinflated markets that many sports create. The equilibrium price (demand of NBA fans vs. supply of NBA players) is so ridiculously high that a price ceiling is necessary to keep wild market fluctuations from occurring. Otherwise, as Plasticbag mentioned, one team would constantly win and then the fans would leave. Following this, the players from the dominant team would disperse, take GIANT salary cuts, and fill what little demand is left with the only skill they have (basketball). After a certain period of time fans would return, increasing demand and causing a rise in their salaries, and they would all join the same team once again, creating a recursive cycle that would wreak havoc on players’ lifestyles and the sports arena in general.

A price ceiling attempts to avoid this cycle to give players an expected salary and keep the NBA from collapsing.

Anyways, what are everyone’s favorite TV shows (when you actually have time to watch TV…)?

I got hooked on Breaking Bad this year, and I love Parks & Rec, Community, and The Office (although Andy Bernard is starting to annoy me).

I do like to watch some older sitcoms like Everybody Loves Raymond and Three’s Company, but I haven’t really watched too many lately.

Interesting. Thanks for the replies guys.

@Apoc, Raymond is a funny show. Gotta love the interaction between him and his brother.

Does anyone here like KPop?

@Apoc, IAmMars: I love Everybody Loves Raymond! King of Queens tends to float my boat too. TBS plays reruns all the time and I love it when I turn on the TV at the right time to catch an episode or two…

i used to be a major fan of kpop! But in the past year or so it’s rather died down… i still listen to it occasionally though

@kimchee1212 I usually like mostly indie rock, but… I can’t believe I’m admitting this on CC of all places… yes, yes I do. In moderation.

Edit: Now I have Gee playing on my ipod. What have you done. Haha.

you guise disgust me. gawd, kpop…

I swear, I usually listen to the type of music reviewed on Pitchfork.

kpop is my guilty pleasure because of how utterly awful it is.

Haha I don’t listen to kpop, it’s more like I observe the crazy stuff that kpop idols do(:

My mother, on the other hand, is currently obsessed with TVXQ/HoMin. It’s slightly embarrassing.

Oh dear. The nearest thing to interaction with the modern music world that my parents have is typified by this comment at dinner tonight by my mom: “I saw something about that Justin Biebers [sic] on CNN. He sings like a girl. Are you sure “he” isn’t a lesbian in disguise?”

@Unsure I LOVE King of Queens. Kevin James is hilarious.
@Kimchee My asian friend always plays Kpop in his car. All I hear now is SNSD or whatever. It’s annoiyng since it’s so catchy.

anyone have opinions about the BCS championship being a rematch rather than two divisions facing off?

Haha. I’m on an IU rampage right now. IU <3

@serendipitee: Was she a fan of TVXQ when it was still had 5 members? I’d totally ship Yunjae, just saying…

@Boyzrule:
Thanks for the information
loool sorry this is from like…pages and pages back.

anyways I also love I love raymond and I still watch reruns of Friends (…)
@kimchee: yeahh i like kpop, but mostly only good kpop and some indie : )

I have been lurking on this forum for so long now! Ahh! When I read your guys comments and all the classes you have taken, it motivates me to do better for some reason. You all sound like great people and I hope you guys get in. I will not be applying until 2 more years I am already nervous. haha…Good luck to all of you!

I WILL apply to 2 more colleges, whether I get into Stanford or not
I had a bball game tonight and I will have one Friday, whether or not we hear from Stanford.

Breaking Bad is awesome. So is Dexter, Entourage (over), Office, Parks & Rec. I would continue to watch them at Stanford.

I could not care less about the NBA, and I wish OK State were in the Natl championship. I don’t like the idea of a repeat game. I would have thought there’d be more dough going outside a single conference. Stanford is going to have an interesting time against OK state though.

Notice how i can work Stanford into anything?
