Official Stanford SCEA 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

You guys have cruel, cruel souls. JK I DID THAT TOO :P

PaeP3nguin, looking over last year’s thread, it does seem that people who got accepted or deferred EVENTUALLY got two emails (one with some kind of i.d. number), while people who were rejected got just one. For some people, both emails came at the same time; for others, they came hours apart. For at least two people, the “here’s your i.d.” email came hours before the “you’re accepted” email, leading them both to think they’d been rejected even though they’d actually been accepted.

The short answer is: If you see two emails from Stanford in your inbox, you’ve been accepted or at least deferred. If you see just one, you MAY have been rejected, but it’s also possible that the second email hasn’t yet arrived. The only way to know for sure is to read the one email you received.

I have the same question @PaeP3nguin

Norwhale, I couldn’t agree more. But I can’t nap, so I’ll just do the “indie music” part. Feeling some Broken Bells and Metric, right now, myself.

Beirut and Passion Pit all the way, man.

HAHA yes @coffee Zoo Tycoon is the shiz.

And I did play sadistic games with my SIM games… for Zoo Tycoon I would play ‘survival of the fittest’… I’d cage all the animals (including dinosaurs and human guests…) all together in one tiny cage and watch them fight to the literal death and see what species was the ultimate survivor…

That’s lovely!
My favorite thing to do, though, was to make a giant house with no doors and no toilet and lock one person in with a flock of dogs; let me just say, lots o’ pee and poo.

When I was little, if I was ever mad at anyone, I would open up Zoo Tycoon, name a guest the name of whomever I was mad at, and feed them to the tigers.

^That sounds amazing haha…Anybody remember the cheats in Sims that would let you get unlimited money or allow you to delete the ladders in the swimming pools?? I also remember having the greatest of times messing with the grim reaper…I built walls around him once and kept him living with my sim family as a little pet.

Mm gotta love the indie, that concert one of you guys went to looked INSANE from what i looked up of it…M83 and imagine dragons on the same night? i would die…

M83!! <3 I saw them at ACL this year…so good.

@sullivan
@Aerygold
Donovan Frankenreiter, Beirut, Tourism, The Last Dinasours, Passion Pit, Neighborhood, and of course The xx. Those are some favs right now

^you should check out Tame Impala and M83 if you haven’t!!

The xx was my fave for a long time…right now definitely jamming to Beirut and Passion Pit 24/7

Oh completely forgot about M83! I love them too. I’ll have to check out Tame Impala. Notice how this conversation is instantly less stressed? Lol music makes all your worries disappear :)

Ooooh beirut…good idea. Haven’t heard of most of the other ones (except Passion Pit, who, to be honest, I just don’t listen to much). And actually what’s funny is the only reason I’m listening to this playlist is because it was the first thing I could find that would get me away from listening to Laura Veirs’ album “July Flame” and Fossil Collective. I’ve had them on repeat for waaaaay too long, haha.
But yes. Beirut. Very good idea. ONWARD TO GROOVESHARK

First off, I’d like to point out that it could be tomorrow, or it could NOT be tomorrow. All of our reasoning for an earlier date than the 14th is at least skewed by the fact that WE WANT IT TO BE SOONER. For instance, with regards to the 7th, we argued that it was the day after Columbia and two weeks after Thanksgiving and such, when the more obvious trend was “Friday before the 15th”, which is the 14th. We of course, conveniently overlooked that.

We hear what we want to believe, guys. So we can always hope for Tuesday, but don’t bet on it happening. I give it a 5% chance. And if that 5% is right, I’ll be absolutely delighted (unless I get rejected…then life just sucks lmao).

Then again, I don’t care because I’ve already been accepted! (right SoCalPapa?)

And in other news, I hope EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU gets accepted, because this thread is great and I would like to meet you all (especially SAT128 and his clan of “playas”)

@ norwhale also the song No Tell by Smoke and Jackal, so good. And yes music calms me… (EDIT: until i see the above post after writing this one :P)
Grooveshark? you should get on the spotify train.

I tried spotify and couldn’t handle it. I’ve been on grooveshark for too long. Plus, my brother is grandfathered into a $30/year mobile deal, so I’ve been mooching on that.

@stressed

I heard that man, I heard that. I would just rather know sooner than later.

I know they aren’t really indie, but anyone like Foster the People?

and the xx are amazing–crystalised is definitely one of my favorite songs

OH MY GOD I LOOOOVE BROKEN BELLS. I used to feel like I was the only person who appreciated them but now you’ve give me hope :D

Anti-■■■■■ reporting for duty. Heh.

Interviews were MIT and Bowdoin jaibiflebtvekakkdsn

Sims was my life when I got swine flu and was quarantined for two weeks. Twas fun until I owned the whole town then I was bored so I just gave da men lots of biddies and made then have excessive amounts of children. Things got weird so I stopped.
