Holocene, I hope we both get in, because you saying that = we need to hang out.

And yeah, Cubanochico, Foster’s great. I got really tired of “Pumped Up Kicks” because of how popular it got, but they’ve got some solid songs.
Actually (and I only bring these up because the radio stations in Philly made both Foster and this band huge in the area), what about Of Monsters and Men? Any fans here?

[EDIT]: I should clarify and say that it wasn’t just that they got super popular. It was that its popularity made it come up at LITERALLY EVERYTHING I WOULD GO TO EVER. And it got really annoying.

@amy I love that song! Sooo good
@sullivan Spotify is where it’s at man
@cuban Foster the People is borderline indie. Good stuff
@stressedasian You have to stop stressing haha. Just adds to our stereotypical Asian image ;)

I like of monsters and men but sometimes I feel like all the songs sound the same. I know that it’s the same way with the lumineers and Mumford and sons, both of whom I’m a massive fan of, but for some reason halfway through their album I got bored.

Totally feeling lovers’ eyes off the new Mumford album right now. I’m alternating that with October by Breaking Bells and Lost in My Mind by The Head and the Heart. Add some Chai Tea and AP Physics is alllmost enjoyable.

D: I loved AP Physics. but fair enough, Holocene. As for those songs you just listed…I’ll have to listen to them. For some reason I haven’t checked out Babel yet (I know, crazy, right?), and I’ve never heard of The Head and the Heart. Thanks for the suggestions. But yes, I understand what you mean with OMAM.
Norwhale, I’ll see what I can do. It’s tough to switch when I can play any of my songs in my car for free, though, not gonna lie.

@amy0827 and everyone else
HEHE yes that concert was incredible… two nights… floor seats 15 feet from the stage both nights.

Night 1 was Two door Cinema Club, Of Monsters & Men, The Gaslight Anthem, Metric, The Shins & Jack White…
Night 2 was Imagine Dragons, Grouplove, Tegan & Sara, Passion Pit, M83, and the Killers…

I died.

I also love almost all of the bands you guys posted! the xx, the head & the heart, smoke & jackal, the neighborhood, foster the people, last dinosaurs… mmmm :)

and I disagree about OMAM and the lumineers… I do agree about Mumford & sons sounding all the same, and I also think all Killers songs sound kind of the same.

I knew you all had that chill side in you. Let us accept that Stanford will release admissions whenever they want to, and there’s nothing we can do about it. You guys rock though.

Does anyone on this thread watch Scandal? None of my friends do and I need someone to discuss the awesomeness of that show with

Man it seems we’re all on the same wavelength music-wise. And @Harborceal, I AM SO FRICKING JEALOUS ALL OF THOSE BANDS ARE AMAZING

MIT announced that they are releasing EA results on 12/15 @ 12:15.

@nikke81395 - I do! that show is AMAZING, so addictive :)

I can’t even believe I missed not so silent night
I woulda been at the second night if I didn’t have my MIT interview at 10 AM the next morning goddamit. Gonna regret that 4vr.

Okay, get babel right now. Seriously. It is heaven. It’s been my main coping mechanism during this wait. Check out the head and the heart for sure, they’re great.

Also been rocking the 90s mixes lately. Oh how I miss Sum 41, Blink 182, the old Coldplay/Maroon 5, etc.

Scandal. What’s it about? I just finished Arrested Development so maybe I’ll check it out. Is it on Netflix?

And yeah, norwhale and harborceal, I AM MEGAJEALOUS RIGHT NOW. @_@ Too many good bands at once, man. Too many.

@MITProspect Get outta here. This is now the chill Stanford talk
@Holocene 90s mixes are the best. Sugar Ray, Shaggy, Spice Girls all the way

I wish I was born like ten years earlier so I could have appreciated the 90s more fully. I did, however, refuse to wear anything but patterned stretch pants all through preschool, which I’m sure counts for something. I was tuned into dem stylez

Holocene, like…I have it. I’ve had it for a while. I know, it’s disgraceful. I’ve just been discovering new bands left and right and haven’t taken the time to listen to it. Right now my ears hurt, but I’ll check it out in like an hour. For sure.
90s mixes? Love it. 311 and Sublime, anyone?

I wish music nowadays was 90’s music and indie music. I mean I do love those pump-up songs but sometimes you can hardly classify them as music.

Oh my god. That is literally a sin. I can’t…awmg. Just start listening. You won’t be able to stop.

Ahhhh 311 and sublime >>>

Also, I have a playlist of all the theme songs. California and Everywhere you Look >>>

So many new great bands lately though. I wish I could listen to them all.

@Holocene Mumford & Sons are amazing! I want to cover some of their songs sooooo bad!

You people and your hipster music (hehe, not really). Anyone listen to indie rap? Heard of Eyedea?

lolll it’s not really hipster. None of the bands we are talking about are that obscure. You don’t have to dig deep to find them.

Some of my other favorites are a bit less common - Summer Heart, Funeral Suits, The Honey Trees, Jacko Hooper etc. but even they are not that difficult to find.
