The Yale thread is so incredible boring. And Pokemon on my Nintendo DS? My obsession as a child.

@aery omg <3
I thought I was alone…

Pokemon are weird.

Guys, there aren’t enough strong “hooked” applicants… for one thing, only 25% of students are URM at Stanford, so I’d presume that means we might be able to estimate at MOST 35 to 40% of the 750 being URM or low income. Leaving 450 more spots. Olympians are like 5 kids come on now. Legacy can’t be that many… maybe 100? Estimating.

Leaving about 50% of spots for unhooked.

I think all video games are pointless

Athletes are ~100-200. 300 are URM/Low Income/FirstGen/Legacy. I’d say about 300 unhooked spots are available, and that’s a scary number.

:O firstgen and low income count as hoooked?

Guys, there really is no point to speculate about percentages and representation of the different regions at this point. All we can do is wait.

I take offense to the whole “there are not enough strong hooked applicants” comment as if having a hook is someone completely indicative of your intelligence and ability to perform well in college…I don’t like the kind of negative attitude that people on this forum usually take to people who have not had the same opportunities as them.

I’m assuming 50/50 split between guys/girls, so there goes half your spots Dx

I fail to see how low income is a hook? I’m under the impression that Stanford takes a need-blind approach regarding its applicants’ financial situation. Wouldn’t this nullify low income as a hook?

you guys make it sound complicated. anyways, I believe it’s just about talent and experiences (and perhaps fate too)

oh dear you folks are giving me a lot to read…

What doesn’t make sense to me is that you’re saying “300 are URM/Low Income/FirstGen/Legacy” and then “300 unhooked spots are available, and that’s a scary number.” That’s 300 spots for each. I get that there are fewer hooked applicants, but it still seems a bit silly to me.

@angel: lolll i luvv yuuu :)))

I don’t mean to bring up another (probably) false rumor, but if you check [Contact Your Admission Officer : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Admission Staff : Stanford University), it lists Torres, Wilfred
(starting 12/13/12). That seems to indicate something special starting on the 13th. Maybe early action ends on the 12th?

eek, why are so many people acting pessimistic today?

I love you too<3 =)

Anybody else look over their supplements now and find a grammar problem that, obviously, can’t be fixed anymore?

"…I retain a significant of information…" -_____-

Though colleges are “need-blind” the admissions offices know if a student if low income if they mailed in a fee waiver.
