@skim14: They are closed, but at this point I honestly don’t know what they are going to do. It’s always possible I guess. Just highly improbable.

is there a chance that the date can be pushed farther than the 15th? b/c of sandy

I personally think that would be even less probable than a weekend release, especially because pushing it back a few days would also be the weekend.

@skim14: Anything can happen, I suppose, but after the 15th is highly unlikely. The legacy letter says the release shall be after 3pm on the 14th and then admission packets will be mailed on the 18th. In the past, they’ve released earlier than the legacy letter date, but I don’t know of any instance they have released after it.

Two things are strange though (1) why don’t they just give a release date to everyone, and (2) if they wanted to share some special info with the legacy families, why give them inaccurate information (which is what occurred in prior years)? I guess you can say people never complain about hearing early but when early releases happen multiple years in a row, expectations start to change and here we are.

oh well …
It better be soon. I don’t mind getting heart attack on weekend.

rumors saying it might be today…

Hey guys,
I’ve been lurking for quite a while (I think I’ve read this entire thread…). As much as I hope they’re going to be sooner, next Friday seems the most likely. They like to release on Fridays, the legacy letter said that, and sandy could’ve delayed them just a few days. Tuesday is always possible, but if everyone gets their hopes up it could be another disappointing day like yesterday.
Anyways, best of luck to everyone :)

skim14 rumors from where

just friends and alumnis who are currently in college…there just rumors so no verifications

Integrate innovate inspire

We are going to have “rumors” every day from now until Friday. I’m setting myself for Friday, that way I’m not disappointed because I don’t believe it will be later, or I’m “excited” about it coming earlier.

@Holocene, @nygiants, other legacies/SIMR alumni: any comments on skim14’s info?

I suppose that it’s possible that results could be released over the weekend. However, while the admissions staffer with whom I spoke initially told me that the decisions would be released on the 15th, when I pressed, the officer acknowledged that because the 15th was a Saturday, they would come out on Friday the 14th instead, as the admissions office is closed on Saturday.

As for why Stanford doesn’t just tell us when the results will be released, I’m guessing it’s because the admissions officers just don’t know until shortly before. They aim for the 15th at the latest, and if they get through them earlier than that, as they have for the past several years, then they release them early to put us out of our misery. But they haven’t ever made any guarantees about releasing them early, so getting angry at them because they haven’t (yet) released them earlier than promised this year seems pretty pointless.

integrate, innovate, inspire… if i read these words again…

im starting to lose hope about it being today…probably next week

A weekend release isn’t happening.

Guys, it’s best to just settle on next Friday. Don’t do this to yourselves, disregard any rumors you hear. If it’s earlier, it will be a pleasant surprise, but just settle on Friday.

Allow me to explain the reasons it will be the 14th and not the 15th, for all of you asking about the legacy letter and such:

a) First and foremost, the admissions office does not work on weekends. This means it WILL NOT be the 15th (similarly, it WILL NOT be today, so go do something fun!)
b) The admissions site has said, from the beginning, BY December 15th. It’s been that way before any of us applied. They write “by December 15th” every year.
c) The legacy letter said the 14th; this was because the legacy letter was customized for the year of 2012, where the 15th is a weekend and thus the date is the 14th. However, they don’t change the website deadline every year. Then writing a different date on the letter was more because it would be convenient to do so, whereas changing the website is not (okay it’s not hard, but why bother).

Other schools who don’t work on the weekends sometimes release on the weekends… like caltech.

Is that admit weekend schedule real?? it seems strange to look at it before knowing if we’re in!
