I come from a prestigious prep school, which historically has about 10-12 applicants EA and gets 4-5 accepted. This year, 18 applied, and 2 got in. One on athletics, the other for music. Rumor around campus is that we got “blacklisted” because of low retention rate last year. :/.

^ I have an idea–You have three (!) hooks: you’re a URM; you’re from a perpetually- underrepresented state; and you’re first-generation-to-college.

^ And low-ish income, I gather.

■■■■■…
- They don’t give interviews in Montana.
- The poster posted completely different stats on another results thread.

caught. fail.

1) thats awk
2) what’s the point of faking stats…? never quite understood that.

I have to post this quickly because I don’t have much time right now. Sorry for being so late but I just remembered about my pledge I made all the way back!

Not that this would be significant, but I got rejected as well. I was surprised at how well I ended up taking it, probably because of how early the REA decisions came in… caught me off guard.

IMO it’s OK to list even minor awards if you don’t have enough major awards to fill the spaces. I didn’t have many major awards so I just listed Honor Roll, outstanding in X, Region Band, and I don’t remember what else in addition to my only major award (national merit).

I didn’t quite want to do this for privacy reasons, but I know how much these have helped me over the past year and a half or so.
