***Official Thread for 2015 BSMD applicants***

Congrats @GoodDoctor‌ . Excited for my GPPA interview tomorrow. Wish me luck! What are these BS/MD interviews like in general? I feel like regardless of the type of program there has to be like a core set of questions that are always asked. Thanks

@numnums I wish you luck. I know that the only question that is asked in all BS/MD interview is “Why do you want to be a doctor”. Other than that, I do not know. I am hoping someone else in this forum will shed some light on what the Northwestern HPME interview is like.

@summerlover1‌
I got a phone call from BU.

@numnums‌ you already got a GPPA interview notification? When did they notify you? I still have not heard back about my acceptance into the honors college… Hope I’m not out of the running for GPPA!!

Is BU still calling for interview? what is your interview date?

@numnums and @GoodDoctor‌, may I ask you to share your stats please

@collegeplzz‌ I got an email about two weeks ago from GPPA, which happened to be about two days before my Honors College interview. Do not lose any hope though, as I have a cousin who is a current GPPA student who a few years ago got her interview in early March. Good luck!

@notsosmart‌ lol I am new to the whole “stats” thing but just a general rundown:

Above average test scores (For example: ACT = 35, 5’s on APs, etc)

Involved in many extracurricular activities, namely Key Club, Math team, Science Olympiad, Student Union (Student government), Tennis, Soccer, Newspaper, co-founded a “Political Debate and Consensus” club, etc

Volunteered at libraries, hospitals, a local zoo, and have taken part in multiple rounds of shadowing. Furthermore have worked as both a tutor at a local center as well as a freelancing ACT tutor.

My biggest “asset” probably was my essay, where I tried to be genuine as possible when I answered why i truly wanted to pursue a medical career. For me, I believe that honesty over everything else is most important when you apply to these programs so that’s the route that I took.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

@numnums‌ just curious- what were the 3 dates gppa gave you to choose from?

does anyone heard anything after TCNJ interview about if they forward your application to NJMS, thanks

@anandhini Thank you for sharing your UM interview experience. Wish you the best of luck! Do you know UM stats?

applied/interviewed/offered admission

Texas tech is supposed to release interview notifications during the 2nd wk of Feb & Wayne Med Start will be releasing notifications on Feb 13th.

Has anyone heard from NEOMed about an interview?

@md2021 I have two friends waiting on NEOMED as well. They have not heard anything yet. Notification will come via snail mail and NEOMED is saying “early February”. This year, for the ED round, they said “early November” and letters were mailed out on November 13th.

@chihuahua1 For GWU/GWU program, 5/28 is misleading since 5 does not represent total number of accepted students. NOT all accepted students will eventually matricuate into the program; some might choose attend other BS/MD programs or other “highly” ranked colleges, such as WashU, Northwestern etc…

For Union-AMC, I submitted my supplement about 2 months ago. Does anyone think I should give AMC a call at this point to see whatsup with my application or should I continue to wait it out?
I’m a bit worried. I got an email confirmation of the payment for the supplemeny, but haven’t heard anything since. Would contacting them be unwise?
Thanks!

@GoodDoctor I’m a mom, but I know kids who had HPME interviews over the last few years. From what I have been told, they are "stress interviews."They try to knock you off balance by firing questions at you,and they aren’t friendly. (Or one of the interviews that day will be like that - I think it is a woman who does that) they want to see how you handle the situation. So if you know that in advance, you can remain confident and know not to let anyone “throw” you.

@faymer did you apply to other programs with AMC? I called them a few weeks ago and they told me they were holding off on notifying me because they still hadn’t received my supplemental application for the RPI program, and they only hold one interview no matter how many programs you apply to. But either way, I would call them and see what’s up

Hi guys,

my son just received two interview invitation email from AMC :slight_smile: One via RPI ( his top choice) and the other one via Union college. It is good to know that he will be interviewed only once at AMC.

Congrats! that very good news @Dildil‌ , what date(s) that was offered?

@Dildil‌
Congratulations on all those interview invites! When did your S submit the Union and RPI AMC supplements approximately?
