@Mocha16 I doubt it was anything you did wrong!
@Mocha16 @FutureMDParent ā¦its such a random/unpredictable process, especially with bsmd admissionsā¦it may just come down to one slight thingā¦i actually read before that an admissions officer got food poisoning in Boston, so the next day she rejected kids from bostonā¦so like i saidā¦very randomā¦best of luck in the future!
@Mocha16 Iām in the same frame of mind. Kind of a Mickey Mouse program to put us through the ringer and leave us with zero feedback. I wonāt be recommending EMSAP to anyone else, that is for sure. Complete waste of time. After such an investment of time and money, to be rejected in a 30 second phone call and told we canāt tell you anything because of āour policyā, it leaves one with a question as to what they have to hide.
I also didnāt like what I heard about the program director bashing the other State schools, specifically Auburn and Alabama, claiming that the only good science program in the state was at UAB. No professional does even in a private forum, must less at a public meeting.
I never heard anything that came across as bashing other state schools!
The email before the phone calls told candidates that the calls would be short and that they wouldnāt discuss reasons.
Well you would be wrong then. Pretty pretentious of you to be in here saying what you are saying.
@ci1718 @FutureMDParent I really like this program and will recommend others to apply. But I did hear that he said that UAB is better than AU and UA. I thought that it was funny the way he said it. I am glad that he personally called each of us and I didnāt have to wait to two months to know the result.
Iām sorry you see it that way. Iām trying to reason with you. Clearly thatās not going to happen. I truly wish your son the best. @FutureMDParent
Yeah what are they hiding to have to say they wonāt discuss their reasons? As a taxpayer in the State of Alabama, I have a right to know. I pay their salaries.
I felt that he was praising UAB in comparison but not really with intent to put down the others. I guess it was just a difference in perception of the commentās intent. I, in no means, wish to upset anyone. I just perceived it differently. You have a mature and positive attitude that will take you far @Mocha16!
Tell us who were cast into the abyss what your childās credentials were that you think set him or her apart? At least that would be something useful to get out of this, if you actually intend to help.
I think most BS/MD schools give results without reasons.
I donāt know how that would serve to help.
What type of medical experience does your son have? IE doctor shadowing, medical research experience, volunteer work at the hospital, etc. Leave it to me to tell you what is valuable, enless your are just here to gloat.
Best wishes to you and your DS!
Yeah that is what I thought. You probably arenāt even in state.
Iām not sure what you thought. Iāll say my child has ample āmedical experienceā and not sure what difference in-state makes as it was clearly open to all states. I wonāt address you further because my intent was to help not harm. I apologize if it has come across otherwise
What kind of medical experience? I saw where you are out of state. Difference is I paid taxes into the system. But I donāt hold that against you, since it was open to all.
By the way, Iām not mad at you. Iām mad at our system in Alabama, and the director in particular. But if you want to truly help, information is what we seek, not emotional stuff that only makes things worse.
Again I apologize if I caused more harm by trying to help.
