Official Thread - List of colleges opting out of Score Choice

I have a son who is a junior. Based on the information we had as of last week, we decided that he would take the SAT yesterday, which he did, without any preparation. Then we found out about colleges opting out of Score Choice and decided it would be best to cancel the scores.

So now we figure that we ought to contact the admissions office at the 20 or so colleges we’re considering right now and ask what their plans are. Sounds like a lot of work. So I suggest the following:

How about if we have a thread where we pool our resources. As we get info on the plans at specific colleges let’s post it here and save others the work.

I wish I could go first, but it’s Sunday evening and I don’t think any of the admissions offices are going to respond tonight.

bird rock have you gotten any information yet? I have not come across schools with this policy yet.

Where is any college on the planet that has posted a detailed official statement on this issue yet?

No info yet at all. I called the College Board and they have nothing to add to this thread yet. Maybe it’s premature to start the thread, but maybe it’s helpful to keep it out there and let people know that we still don’t know anything. Could save a lot of people from running around to figure that out on their own.

Remember, some schools (FSU and UF for two) require ALL tests and this is NOT something new for them. I remember posting a link at some point in the past.

Here’s what I said but no link yet.

Here’s the language from a previous post.

I think it is safe to say that they are opting out of ANY choice…by you. ;)

It’s interesting that Florida State was the first college I learned about on CC (I have since learned about others) that superscores the ACT by sections.

Moral of the story: read all the fine print on the application form and on the colleges’ websites. Thanks for the example, curmudgeon.

I read that these scores are on many transcripts in Florida (as well as at high schools elsewhere). I am surprised that ACTs and SATs are sent out when the schools request them. Isn’t the ACT losing money if the student is not paying $9 per report?
