<p>That question asked about the “conversation” not the narrator’s viewpoint. The conversation went to the extremes (polarized) and did provide some benefit (fruitful). Impassioned but inconclusive seems a good match as well but not as good as the other choice. I went for polarized but surprisingly fruitful.</p>
