Official thread october sat 2013 test

lululz, consensus is 4 no errors.

@apache phew, okay thanks. Yeah I worked out the angles and 10 was the radius too. I thought i had done something wrong haha

Spring you took a valid position. It just matters how you supported it. I took the same stance that contentment (anti-progressivism) is detrimental to society as change is a necessity for any first world nation.

Looking at Erik’s scale, how would we rate this test’s CR? Easy, mod, or hard? I think on math missing one will deliver a 770. If it’s 780 I’ll be shocked. Writing will be interesting especially with CB playing around more and more with homonyms. What do you guys think?

@collegetalk11 at first, I put dilettantes, but then changed it to automatons. The sentence said something about people being zombies, os I thought that reflected automatons. I hope I was correct the second time!!

i put she and i

Were there a lot of idiomatic errors? I’m not very good at recognizing those so I put like maybe ~10 no errors

automatons yes. hmm what other questions? what is the answer of the children on the ship who see whales? does anyone remember the exact sentence

AUTOMATONS IS correct

Can someone estimate my score?
CR: ~3 wrong
Math: 1 Definite, maybe 2
Writing: ~1 wrong
Essay: filled the page, was pretty smooth. 10?

I said dilettante since it also said that there were fewer and fewer skilled artists, and dilettante means amateur

jlee4001 ok thanks!!

@yankees

not necessarily, dilettantes doesnt mean amateur but more like a superficial lover of art/science

what was the answer to the reading question about how the phonograph affected something?

the answer choices were soming like this

harbinger for decline in culture
watershed in musical history
curb human creativity
etc

I don’t exactly recall how many no errors there were (in the second half of each writing sect) but they were few and far between if I’m not mistaken. In the first half of each (where A was essentially no error), I once again don’t remember how few there were that didn’t need correction. I think there were a little more than 4, granted I had the writing exp. sect.

I’m pretty sure it was automatons. The zombie metaphor was describing how people would mindlessly listen to recorded music instead of physically producing them through voice or instruments. At least that’s what I deduced.

I said watershed since that means turning point and Einsteins machine thing was a turning point

I said watershed cause it was crucial for both sides of the spectrum

Watershed was the right one

i put that as my answer

it was watershed. the others dint make sense
