Official Transcripts vs sef reported grades

Do most privates require official transcripts when applying? Or can I self report grades and then send the official transcripts once accepted? That is how the UCs and CSUs work.

The reason I ask is because I have attended 9 different colleges, some I only did one class at, and I’m afraid that having so many transcripts will look bad and won’t give the admissions a good picture of me as a student. I also want to apply to many schools and sending all 9 official transcripts to every school will be very expensive.

For law school, applicants are required to send official transcripts to a middle man who then sends them to every school you apply to. Is there something like that for privates?

I am mainly interested in NYU, USC, Cornell, Columbia, Fordham, Rutgers and Georgetown, though I will probably apply to others as well.

Also, do these privates acknowledge academic renewal?

Yes, most will require you send your transcripts as part of a complete application, however to be sure you have the most current information for each college, you should go to the websites of the schools you’re interested in. For example, here’s NYU:

No central place for transfer materials I’m afraid, each school is on it’s own.

I don’t know about academic renewal.
