Stats?

Historically, tons of students didn’t receive the email and were admitted anyway.

So if so many people didn’t receive the email and were admitted in the past, what is the reason that only some people got the email? Do the people who got the email have greater financial aid need than others? Or is it just that our financial aid was processed first and it’s completely random?

Do UCs usually send out financial aid offers regardless of a student’s application status (i.e. accepted/rejected)? As in do they only give financial aid offers to ACCEPTED students, or to anyone who applied?

^ no one is sure, but I’ve heard the financial aid office is essentially given a list of admitted students from admissions to process financial aid for.

This is from last year too. In case anyone was looking for it.

It seems as though the people who received the first two e-mails ended up getting in, while the verification e-mail was a blanket e-mail sent out and was not indicative of anything.

When will decisions be out? In the afternoon or at night?

I’m pretty borderline, though, and I received it (didn’t get the third “verification” email, though). I know nick_scheu is pretty borderline too, depending on how they calculate gpa, and he received them. Unless my PS blew them away, or they counted that F as an I (like they should, damnit) I’m not too sure about this. Regardless, when decisions are out, everyone should add whether they got this to the accepted/ denied stats thread.

I don’t mean to be pessimistic, but it sure seems like ALMOST everyone got the email. And, I would be surprised if ALMOST everyone got into Berkeley (especially me!).

Just think about it… is it likely that almost everyone who posts here got into Berkeley??? Not really.

accum gpa: 3.92 for philosophy, 4.0 in philosophy classes…2/3 pre-reques…last pre-req wasnt offered at my school (University of San Francisco). I’m not coming from a cc but i met up with an advisor at cal and ‘technically’ i have the all equivalent IGETC courses finished. I just hope the fact that I came from a 4 yr didn’t completely ruin my chances:(

yeah no problem guys!
and cherryvaseline, whatever she told me, i told you. literally as she was talking, (i had her on speakerphone), i started typing.
yeesh i almost wish my midterm/class wasnt cancelled today so i could get the helllll off this site.

edit: maybe its only people who got the verification email (like me) most probably got in
![]()
wouldnt that be something

@naniwa

Riverside released decisions on March 1. SD released some in mid-March. UCLA released on Monday, which meant they were probably done by the Friday before.

The point is, it’s very likely that Berkeley had the majority of their decisions done weeks ago, and handed off the admits to Financial Aid to get processed. Financial Aid accidentally entered the wrong date into its automailer, so some stuff got sent out early.

@zambon: not really, but a lot of people here WILL get in. Definitely more than 50%.

I think I have very strong stats and I got the email. There still is no truth to the claim that everyone who applied for fafsa got the email because some people here still did not get it.

@redo: I have a midterm today and I still can’t get off this site!

@redo: I’m basically done for the week. I have literally nothing to do but wait for decisions lol :(

So what are our thoughts on people who got the first two but not the the third?what did the third one say?

zambonbecky - it actually doesn’t seem like EVERYONE got the e-mail…there are simply many people who received the e-mail who are choosing to participate in this thread. There are still many people out there who applied for financial aid and did not receive the e-mail.

Regardless, though, let’s all just indicate if we got the e-mail or not when we post our decisions tomorrow night

hahahahah deanzatransfer i just came back from one, and i was supposed to have another but alas, my teach got sick.
good luck on your midterm though! we need to keep our gades up for berkeley/ucla :D

i’m pretty sure they wouldn’t “accidentally” release these emails every year, so calling it an accident I wouldn’t really believe.

that being said, last year people who didn’t get the email got in so if you didn’t get it, don’t worry. and if you did, don’t celebrate.

if i’ve learned anything from all the trick threads and stuff it’s that there is never any final decision on what means what and we only have 26 hours (hopefully) until these decisions are released, so we can’t do anything about it.

but we can keep speculating all we want anyways, i know i’m not gonna stop you =]

I don’t know if this matters, but I got both e-mails this morning AND I am able to see my complete financial aid package on MyFinAid and this:

Undergraduate student
Dependent student
Housing: Fall - Residence Hall, Spring - Residence Hall
Enrolled for Fall and Spring
Estimated Graduation: May, 2013

I think the e-mails are an extremely positive sign. (:
