Official UC Berkeley 2015 Transfer Thread

@SDGoldenBear I won’t be taking any sort of weeder classes, if that’s what you’re suggesting. I’ll move right up to upper div’s.

I think grades aren’t generally curved in my major, but I could be wrong. If they are, then it’s a light to make the averages fairly normal.

I’m absolutely positive that the summer class was easier than it is during the regular session, as far as grading went. The exams weren’t bad at all (they gave a ton of partial credit, too). Learning three languages of logic and their respective approaches in 6 weeks was extremely difficult, though. However, if I had the time that I would have had during the regular semester, I probably would have done just as well, despite the grading. I hear that’s one of the more difficult Philos classes, too. While the class is apparently supposed to be a GPA booster, learning first-order logic thoroughly in 6 weeks was incredibly difficult. I’m sure the material wouldn’t be as challenging to absorb during the regular semester, but then the grading/prof would have been different. Discussion sections were new (having come from CC), but I found them to be incredibly helpful.

I also attended Philos 25A at the beginning of the semester, but was unable to get in. From what I gathered (friend is taking the class, too) it’s not too difficult. Honestly, the class that I’m taking currently that articulates with it is probably just as difficult.

If I get in/attend, I’ll definitely be taking Philos 100 - Methods, which is, from what I hear, extremely demanding (papers every week, difficult readings). I’ll likely take another logic course, because I loved the one I had. I’m more or less struggling with what to fill the third spot with - another upper div philos class, or perhaps an english literature class? Do you think three courses in my major would be too much for my first semester, provided I only will have 9 upper div classes to fulfill my major reqs once I transfer? Or is it probably a good idea to take something outside of it?

I almost forgot about Berkeley Connect. I’ll definitely do that (I’ve heard great things) along with another decal, probably.
