More info that might help someone in the future:
I spent 7 semesters with a 3 semester break in between at community college due to military obligations. The break lead to odd conflicts in my original schedule plan. I had to take an extra semester since I wanted to finish the 3 semester physics sequence at my current CC and the first class sequence was only offered in the spring. Thus, the last two years my course load had to dwindle down to 3 classes each semester since I was running out of classes to take and I needed to remain full time for the Pell Grant. My total semester hours that will be completed is 104 (with remedial course work; 82 without). I only had one semester where I had at least 3 major core classes; M.V. Calc, OChem 2, Physics 1, rest of the semesters were either math + chem or math + physics. I also retook English 2 twice; once at a CC in Texas and the other in California. I also took 2 semester of remedial Algebra at the beginning of returning to school and jumped to Calculus the following semester by taking College Algebra and Trigonometry in the summer. I also had to take introductory basic chemistry (high school level not general chemistry) for one semester; I consider it a remedial class since it cannot transfer to my major.
Also, all the extracurricular stuff won’t have an impact if your GPA is not competitive. Your GPA and what you’ve done with your life past high school is what matters. Try to finish everything you can at the CC and use assist.org for your class selection. Most schools would rather take someone with a 3.8 gpa and everything completed than someone with a 4.0 who is missing one or a few courses listed on assist.org (this seems to be the case with UCLA).
