@slantrhymes my career goal is owning my own company - which I know you don’t even need a degree to do. If I were to graduate from Haas, I’m imagining that I’ll be working for an established company just to generate an income to invest in my startups and/or other startups.
I think I really don’t care as you keep posting this and the last thread you posted it got shut down.
Lol. You’re out of control man.
Either campus will provide you a great education. If your gut says UCLA, go with it.
Hey Guys!
Could someone post the dates & deadlines for financial aid docs, transcripts and any other important dates?
Thanks!
@UCLAorUCB I’ll still debating between these two myself. I went from a heavy Bruin lean to a slight Cal lean then back to UCLA and now again at a slight Berkeley lean.
Pretty much everyone I’ve talked to emphasizes that it’s not about the “prestige” of either the program or university but rather go to the place that will offer you the most opportunity to get research experience, possibly get published, and, in-case your grad school plans change, the one that offers the best networking opportunities for employment. I believe @Cayton can give better insight for Philosophy, but in my case as a undergrad math major, UCLA offers better the research opportunities and Cal the better networking opportunities.
In regards to your specific scenario, realistically it will never get to that point as the other factors associated by your school choice (i.e “opportunities”) will start to separate you from the rest of the pool long before the adcoms consider the marginal difference between UCLA and UCB.
Um, folks. “UCLAorUCB” posts on other threads are remarkably similar to “mikeminimo” posts here, e.g. “One of my classmates from CC was just rejected from UCLA/UCB as a transfer but was accepted to Yale as a sophomore transfer! I’m so shocked . . .” Fascinating coincidence, no?
@MaMoi77 Lol yeah I just commented on that in the transfer forum. It’s getting really annoying.
Who here is going to Calso on June 26th? It’ll be cool to meet some of the people on here after finally being done with this whole transfer process.
@bmirza991 All the information should be on your MyBerkeleyApp page, but here are the dates listed on mine:
June 1–submit SIR complete statement of legal reisdence, submit parent info (if you’re a dependent, I assume)
June 6–complete online advising
June 7–apply for campus housing
I’m confused about high school transcripts. Do I have to send my high school transcripts even though I graduated from HS 7 years ago? Can I just send a copy of my diploma instead?
Counting how many years I have been out of HS made me feel really old…
Anyone on here got Regents? I’m assuming if we had gotten it, we would have heard by now…
@slantrhymes: I went to the SoCal repception and the financial aid rep told me that invites for interviews were sent out awhile ago. So if we didn’t hear by now, we didn’t get it. Bummer, I know. But at least we got into Cal!!
I forgot who asked about what went on at the SoCal reception…but it wasn’t incredibly productive. They actually just showed videos from their youtube. Then they gave information that was on their website. There were a limited amount of booths, I would guess about 10 of them there? It was only helpful to go if you had specific questions ready for housing/fin aid/ some of the departments/ calso / EOP. They also gave out free food, a Berkeley bag if you filled out a survey, a poster at check in, and they had some buttons. You really didn’t miss out on much at all.
Hey anyone knows how to access the congratulation screen on myBerkeleyApp website? like saying “congratulation nikoniko! You got accepted!” with dean’s or whoever’s signature.
I saw the screen when I got accepted but I cant see it anymore. I need it to proceed documentation for international students so…
@nikoniko Go to the myResources tab and look in the green sidebar. There’s the admission letter from the vice chancellor or whatever.
If we completed IGETC already, is the American Cultures requirement class the only thing we need other than our major requirements?
I believe you also need American history and institutions classes. Check on assist.org
Is anyone going to do transfer edge? / Do you think its worth the money?
@HumbleTeen ah okay thanks! and i checked, you’re right about the american history but that half a year of us government fulfills that requirement (just in case anyone else is curious)
Does anyone know if housing is on a first come first served basis? As in if you apply earlier, you’re more likely to get your first choice?
Just wondering because I have a full time internship right now and kind of overwhelmed with all the stuff I need to do for Cal. Don’t think I’ll get it done until close to the deadline…lol
