Official UC Berkeley 2015 Transfer Thread

@Mustang012 During the 10 months that you and your siblings were visiting out-of-state your Mom likely continued to claim you as a dependent on her tax returns, and your aunt likely did NOT claim you kids as her dependents, right? Your legal residence then would be documented by your Mom’s California address on her tax returns. If you are worrying about physical presence just date your permanent residence back to your return to the state in high school. You only have to live here 12 months to consider yourself a permanent resident going forward. Good luck to you.

@MaMoi77 No she didn’t. My mom continued to claim us because she would send my aunt money every week for our food, expenses and such. Ok, thank you very much. I appreciate your help, it really helped me!

Does anyone know where I can try to find a roommate for on campus housing other than the Official 2017 facebook page and the 2017 transfer page/ 2017 roommate finder page? I know I’m a little late in the game…I just decided to dorm right now hahahaha.

Has anyone gotten a response from Quincy Jones yet? Man it’s been more than three weeks now.

My daughter did, but she emailed him directly after it had been funneled over. It was a while back. Answer pretty short and sweet.

@InBadSituation Here is my timeline: I first emailed Mr. Quincy Jones on April 28 regarding my situation. He replied on May 1st that he forwarded my situation to the College of Chemistry review committee. Then he emailed me on May 26 with the committee’s decision.

It seems like they have one person handling all transfers. A recipe for failure.

@InBadSituation I sent him an email couple days back with no response and this morning I resent it & wrote in the subject “URGENT” and he responded quickly.

Is there a deadline to take a summer course at a CC? I’ve tried looking for it but I haven’t been able to find out if they do or not. The summer class is simply to complete my associates degree requirements.

Does anyone have any info on the SLR (statement of legal residence) documentation requests? Pretty much I’m curious why I’m having to submit copies of my parent’s taxes and state licenses. Neither of my two older sisters (one who graduated from Cal in 2013 and one who’s currently at UC Santa Cruz) understand why I’m being asked for so many things to prove my residency status. Is is random?

@kindfine I didn’t have to do anything like that, either. Maybe it’s a random selection of people every year or something.

@kindfine I was asked the same as you except my parent’s state licenses… I had to emailed them all the documents and couple weeks later I still have no response. = = the “pending” is killing me.

@lindyk8 Actually, my Admissions Office rep. is Susan Payne. But after looking through the posts, it seems like almost no one has her compared to the amount of people who have this Mr. Quincy Jones…

And when I had questions to ask her, she responded back to my emails within 24 hours. So I’m a little confused as to why there’s such an issue going on. I wonder if Quincy Jones just got a whole lot more admitted students to handle…?

@kindfine same. I was asked for my parents 2014 tax returns and her vehicle’s registration.

@psychky I don’t know how they choose. Is it random? Is it by generalized course of study? Alphabetical? All I know is he is either really swamped, or marginal at his job. :-"

Maybe Quincy Jones is busy producing music, for anyone getting that reference…

Hello everyone. Congrats to all those accepted this year. I, myself, have been planning to transfer to Berkley but I am not from a California Community college. I am currently studying at New York Institute of Technology and am unsure regarding the transferrabilty of the credits taken here at NYIT. Atm I have a 4.0 GPA and plan to take similar courses listed in ASSIST towards an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science division major. Even then Im still unsure and dont know who to ask.

Hmmm… I am guessing students are assigned to advisers by colleges? I have no evidence for that but I am accepted to College of Letters and Science.

^ Also in the College of L&S. Applied as a Psychology major.
