^ what is a transfer profile? is that something from the UCLA website? i think i saw that… hmm

I’ve gotten acceptances from both UCLA and UCSD…

Berk would really really worry me…

@North
It’s actually pretty helpful!
http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof.htm

oh yeah, i have seen that. thanks! forgot what it was called. heh

@thepavin
why? i do not think what the poster said is true about getting into UCLA means you are less likely to get into CAL. seriously. i have seen no evidence of this. in fact the opposite. the poster did not get into UCLA by the way. good luck dude!

have any of you heard back about the regents scholarship? or has it not been released yet for transfers?

Berkeley’s Regents’ comes around mid-May after admission decisions are posted. There’s no additional application process, so if you’re selected - you’re selected.

i thought there was an interview process??

@TreDelta: Woohoo! Just out of curiosity, is there a reason why Berkeley is your top choice? While Cal seems to be more highly regarded, it seems as if LA would be a hub of opportunity for us comm majors.
Proximity to internship positions aside, I’ve heard that the program at LA is very strong.

Unfortunately I did not complete every pre-req for media studies - I am missing two - a sociology course that is not articulated and economics. If I am accepted into Berkeley, it will be an incredibly tough decision as both offer different advantages.

Does Berkeley take your overall GPA or your Transferable GPA more seriously? Or any of the UC’s for that matter.

English Major
3.27 Transferable
3.5 Overall GPA
Lot’s of interesting EC’s
Good Essay
IGETC: 1 class and then done this semester
Major Prereqs: 2 classes and then done this semester

Rejected from UCLAs…just called them and they said that I was at the low end of those accepted. I have a C on my transferables, rest A’s and two B’s…damn that C in Spanish 2 hurt me!

The UC system takes your transferable. I got rejected from UCLA and UCSD, but just got accepted to UCD. Where else did you apply to?

@nicksmi7h Applied to Berkeley, Irvine, and Santa Barbara…still waiting on all 3.

@backinthegame
arg, those languages. i called CAL a year ago and they actually told me not to get a letter grade in my advanced french class. they said, “we don’t expect you to take it for a letter grade.” phew. so i am in advanced french now and get to take the exams home. just too stressful keeping the GPA high. i feel for you dude. still waiting on SB? that is a cool campus.

@northbeach Thought maybe my 2 years living in Madrid after that C would nudge them to overlook it, guess not. Hopefully Berkeley takes a different perspective on it:) I’m so nervous about Friday, Berkeley is my top choice, even though I know it’s a bit of a longshot.

good luck my friend. the hours are rolling by.

@northbeach

There’s no preference rating because even though it’s all one application, every UC is essentially independent in terms of deciding their own admissions. Thus, it’s like you’re sending separate applications to different schools, except that they use one system (think Common App). Each school considers you in terms of its own expectations and requirements, so that’s where you get the discrepancy for why a student may have gotten into A but not B.

As for Regents’ at Berkeley, you are considered for the scholarship when you apply to the university, so TreDelta is correct in that there’s nothing “extra” that you have to do.

After the initial selection process however, around 1,500-2,000 applicants are chosen for the interview process with a faculty member from the university. Of these applications, around 200 will actually receive the Regents’ scholarship.

According to the Berkeley website:
[quote]
“Notifications are sent to students the day the Office of Undergraduate Admissions sends the acceptance announcements at the end of March. You can be fairly sure that you are not receiving the scholarship if you do not see a message on myBerkeleyApp. Transfer students are notified mid-May.” /quote

@callian
thanks. i was only mentioning this because another poster said that admissions were based on preference. and i do not agree with this because the UC system has no idea what your preference would be. unless you were to write about it in the essay. but the poster did not reply. probably doing homework, like i should be. haha. good luck peeps!

Does anyone know anything about the College of Natural Resources and the acceptance rates for the majors in it? I’m getting so nervous because none of the past threads or this one have any info them.

Oh and can it PLEASE just be Friday already?

Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiday.

Ok this is starting to worry me.

Is there any truth to this whole “if you get into UCLA, you have a worst chance at Cal”?
I got into UCLA and UCSD as a molecular, cell, developmental bio major with a 3.75.

I also applied for MCB at Cal. Am I at a worst position for berkeley simply because I got into those schools? I’m an out-of-state applicant if that matters.

Also, good luck to everyone else who applied to Cal.
