Official UCB Countdown

Hi Meohmy, I sent you a private message.

Ahhhh! Only a few hours. Cannot focus on HW. Cannot focus on anything.

In a few hours, our lives will be changed!

Best wishes to all of you and thanks for making the journey a little more interesting.

meohmy
empireryan makes a good point. anyway, sounds like he missed some prereqs, did not complete 60 transferable units, or his major was impacted. also, how did his transcripts look—lots of gaps in education, lots of W’s, etc? and was his gpa weighted or unweighted, did you attend a 4 year university prior to applying? these are all factors. UC school want california kids who graduate from california high schools. or kids who transfer from a california CC. coming from a four year school is a negative mark on their admission chances. good luck. if he has a 4.0 he will be okay and get into another school.

also, the UC schools do not like any english or math GE classes to be in progress. they want to see letter grades and completed L and S or IGETC certified. if he lacked any of these things, he can apply again next year. and it is worth a one year wait to get into a top UC.

Once again, at work during decision time, just like UCLA last week. Can’t wait til I get home to check tonight! Good luck everyone :)

good luck mr. imunster!

Thank you for the great advice, everyone!

My child is a CCC transfer with all prereqs and 60 transferable units completed early who got into some good schools already. I hate to see the buildup over The Top Two and the effect it has.

oh, we are enjoying ourselves. and we are lucky to even have a chance to apply to the top two public universities in the country. so don’t worry about the buildup. if your kid got into davis, or another good uc, then don’t worry yourself. it was harder to get into ucla last year than it was to get into UCB. ciao.

also, 60 units is just one requirement out of many.

5 hours.

This actually isn’t taking all that long, online poker ftw!

Every email I get today makes my heart sink. I’m checking myBerkeleyApp every half hours just in case. Want to get this over with so I can enjoy my weekend

Emails? Don’t bother. I’m sure checking the decision page directly is the fastest way to know for every school. The only admission-related email I’ve received was from UCSD a few days after admissions were posted just as an FYI for those who didn’t know they were out already.

… That is, unless Berkeley is zesty and sends out an immediate email? I’ve never heard of such an occurrence, though.

UCLA actually sent a fairly prompt email.

Woah really? I didn’t get anything from them besides the housing information email a few days after. I found out right at 5:00PM off the site. Hmmm.

You guys!!! It’s finally the day!! I don’t think i’ll be able to handle a rejection. I think I’d be in denial and would still show up to the orientation lol

^ I’ve been preparing for a rejection for the past 5 months, so I don’t think I would be able to handle an acceptance. :p

4 hourssss…

@ jdom24

haha… I am numb with an overwhelming variety of feelings!

I think I’ll do some cleaning/laundry to keep me distracted. O_o

like the 20th, i went on a 5 mile run. and like the 20th, it did nothing to quell my anxiety.

Although my chances are low, I’m still really anxious to find out! Ahh

3.4 anthro major here

I’m pretty anxious right now—worried that they’re going to deny me over, well, minor things, really, since I explained everything major in my personal statement.
